Fun fact, POPGOES Arcade was going to have another level of currency, alongside the rare (and originally circular) Emerald Coins. They were just called Shadow Coins.

Their purpose was never really settled on before they were scrapped entirely, but some ideas included:

1. A LOT of money all at once, but all remaining money in the game would be halved in value. A test for the player's patience.

2. Something required for the "true ending", for example a coin that has been corrupted by Bonnie as a means of communicating with us.

3. A unique currency, like Emerald Coins, that could be used to purchase "illegal upgrades" from a shadowy character. This concept was sort of repurposed into BB's Black Market.
