Introduction
I'm writing this post without discussing it with the team. I'd like to share my position on what's happened to the game and where the promised updates went.
Initial plans
Well, what's done is done. We took second place at the Game Jam and took home our $100. Due to my regional issues, the withdrawal took OVER THREE MONTHS! And then we planned to release an update that would add the following features to the game:
Nerf the first phase.
Finish the second phase (yes, we didn't finish a few attacks)
Rewrite the writing in the second phase.
Slightly rework a few attacks in the second phase.
Finish the overworld in the transition to the third phase.
Finish the first phase (redo from scratch)
Redo the ending.
All of this was planned to be done within two to three months of release. But something went wrong.
Something went wrong
We invited several people to the team and were already planning to start work. But then the so-called "dead underswap" dilemma arose.
Basically, as a coder on any project, I listen to the opinions of every team member — or at least try to. And then we had a dispute with the second person on the team after me, Dawg. We didn't share the same views on creating a sequel to the game. Let's start with each of our positions.
Dawg's Vision
Releasing a new update in which we will include all the new content. We're simply finishing up the initial plans for the game.
SubRaiN's Vision
Release an update that fixes all the issues of previous versions, but also release a standalone sequel for the third phase, where the game's full essence can be fully realized.
What happened next
We simply couldn't find a compromise and decide on a solution that would be beneficial for everyone. So, for now, "UNDERTALE: just breathe." is FROZEN. I hope this won't be forever, and that sooner or later we'll finish the third phase. I apologize for not meeting your expectations. At the very least, I'm sincerely proud of this project, because making a game like this in a MONTH is an insanely difficult task. I hope for your understanding. Thank you.
