Hello there my fellow internet surfers! How are you doing? My name is Smitty, or rather I go by that name on the Interwebz. I made stuff. Whether it is videos, games, or anything else, I have dabbled around in it at some point. I love creating things, and in this case, I have been making video games! That is most likely why you are here.
I made this Tumblr to talk about my previous and upcoming games. So, I guess that is what I should talk about. I have recently released 2 games on Game Jolt (which I find the best platform for indie developers such as myself). Each of these games are drastically different than the other. One is a tongue and cheek Space Invaders Clone… and the other is a serious game about Loneliness created in a style similar to IMSCARED and I See You, called Alone.
The idea and core concept came to me from a “rabbit trail thinking session” about people’s fears. What is something that every human being on the planet is afraid of? Being alone. That is hell for us. Our own personal hell. Ever since I thought of that, I’ve wanted to discuss that within the realm of the entertainment industry. I was going to make a short film on it, but I haven’t had the time yet with school crap to actually get a crew and cast together to make it. Then I realized that a much easier platform to express this topic on would be video games. So, whenever I got the time to build my game, I would. And soon, it became something that I could share with the world. So here you are.
Probably won’t do anything like Alone again within the realm of video games, considering the fact that I absolutely hate this over saturated genre that everyone else seems to like cough cough FNAF Clones cough cough. That being said, I love the core concept of using this genre to talk about loneliness. Definitely will do it again, just probably in a different medium that I previously talked about.

I created Alone with a lovely piece of software called Clickteam Fusion (Scott Cawthon’s software that he made FNAF on). I really recommend it over software like Game Maker. If you are already familiar with computer languages (like I am), it is a very small learning curve. I only picked this up around 7 months ago and have learned almost everything in it. Alone was actually very easy to make with Fusion. The hardest part was the actual gameplay portion, which was mostly due to creating the lighting engine for it. The good news is that I know have a pipeline (sorta) for my future games with creating lighting. That is the great thing about Fusion. Almost anything is possible.

I composed the music to this game as well. Normally I use FL Studio to build music, but I wanted to get a semi organic feel to the music. So, I just recorded some foley of anything I could get my hands on and tweaked them to create a symphony of half organic half digital sounds to add tons of atmosphere to the game. I thought it turned out quite well. Definitely dig the aesthetic that the music/sound effects make. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll make a standalone album with something along those lines if I get enough people who want it.
I have talked way to much about games I’ve already made. Let’s talk about the games I am going to make! Without revealing too much, I have a few ideas and concepts that I may or may not put into development. One of them I’ll tell you now. It’s called Hell’s Waiting Room. Don’t want to say much else besides that. Maybe more info in future GDBs.
Before I go, I want to plug my stuff real quick. AAAANNND now everyone left.
…
Oh! You’re still reading this! Cool!
I have a Youtube Channel where I post random crap that I feel like making. Usually silly stuff. Go check it out if you like that. I now have a Twitch Channel where I will be live streaming game development n’ other stuff (if you guys want other stuff). Gonna try this out, but if it doesn’t get people interesting and watching, then I’m probably gonna stop pretty quickly. I’ll make sure to post about it on Youtube and stuff to give you as much lead way as possible to get to my stream. It will probably be sometime this summer (probably early June).
Ok enough fiddling around with this post gonna go now bye!
