Game Update (Alpha 0.6.9)


Additions:

  • Added in day and night cycle (Game is now infinite).

  • Added in a new page to the shop (will be changed in the future).

  • Added in a weekly tax / rent that you have to pay to keep your stand.

  • Added in small text pop-ups that appear and then fly off screen (Green = good, Red = bad). It shows items such as weekly profit or loss, when you gain or lose popularity.

  • Added in a fast forward button for when you feel comfortable with the customer flow.

  • Added in a line of code that makes Ice-Cream melt away over time. It simply picks between the three every 7-10seconds and simply removes it.

Improvements:

  • Improved the customer AI further, allowing room for the customers to make more in-depth decisions. I.e. whether or not they are going to stop.

  • Improved the screen management class. That should help with some small lag spikes when transitioning.

  • Improved the popularity / money game system in an attempt to balance out strategic gameplay with a fun and enjoyable game (needs further improvement and is far from perfect).

Tweaks:

  • Removed unnecessary classes and other lines of code that could potentially slow down the game.

  • Slightly tweaked the cost for Ice-Cream and re-sell price. Making it substantially cheaper to buy in bulk. This is also balanced out by the melting Ice-Cream, you don’t want to buy too much too early or else it will all melt.

  • Slightly tweaked the options screen, however is far from finished (low priority).

  • Tweaked the water speed (not too noticeable).

Fixes:

  • Fixed (well as far as I know) the stand sometimes not appearing at the start of the game causing the players to have to go back to the main menu and try again.

  • Fixed customers getting stuck at the stand due to the Ice-Cream stock going into negative numbers. Simply a miss type in code.

Currently Working On:

  • Sketching up and researching a TON of items that can be purchased early on, giving the player something to do whilst they are earning money.

  • Improving on the difficulty of the game in an attempt to make going bankrupt more of a possibility and at the same time making sure it’s not overly difficult and still fun.

  • Adding in a new page to the shop and fixing all the icons, prices, names etc. This new page will be for upgrades.

  • Adding my first set of upgrades/items to the shop.

Bin and an air freshener. The idea I have come up with is that customers will drop rubbish on the floor, which will require you to clean it up. If you don’t it will lower the overall appeal to your stand and your popularity will start to decline.

To fix this issues you have to buy a bin. However if the bin fills up it will start to smell, which will cause some customers to rush past your stand and not buy Ice-Cream. The bin man will come every week however early on rubbish will fill up quite quick.

To deal with the issue of smell when waiting for the bin-man, you can purchase an air-freshener, which will allow for at-least 50% of customers to still stop and you can still slowly progress.
