While so far the game jam hasn’t accomplished for Midnight Tinkering as a whole what I had hoped it could, and the overall score is weighed down by a few 1 votes, thanks to the awesome help of Kevin Green and Robin Keijzer I’ve at least been able to design and develop another fun game that hopefully more people will be able to enjoy once the post-release build is ready to be distributed here.
If you’d like to try an early preview build, I’ve been able to get multiplayer back up and running, smoothed out the body part synchronization with clients (which I’ll also make adjustable in a future build via the options menu), adjusted arena size, fixed the ‘waiting for players’ bug and a bunch of other small improvements ontop of the last update. The ‘bugs’ to note I’m aware of is that the AI players in the main menu wobble about awfully because of the missing slow motion object, and music isn’t in (because I was consistently playing/closing/testing etc so had it disabled at the time of this build). Both are easy fixes though and nothing that will affect your gameplay experience if you’d like to test it out early :)
Preview build -
NOTE: I’ve noticed you may often spawn with the same color as other AI even though your color is correctly randomized individually, I believe this has something to do with how randomization is accomplished in Unreal Engine and may likely manually assign player colors 1-6 in the final build.
I’m currently working on the player health/damage area of gameplay and once that’s complete and everything else is smoothed out I’ll update the official distribution, after which I’ll work on adding local 2 player sharing a keyboard, and the options menu.
