Hello everyone!
This will be the first update article posted for Humans From 20XX, providing more details about my plans for how gameplay will work, a very early sneak peak at the story, and more details.
Notice : Any sprites, storyline info, or basically anything said in here is prone to change. Not everything is final, ESPECIALLY the storyline.
Our Main Character
The main character I have chosen for Humans From 20XX is a teenager from Falls Town who contains the manifestation of not only the power to change the future and past, but the power to manipulate the butterfly effect for right or wrong, but he doesn't even realize it.
You might be thinking, "Whoa, this kid's sprite is about to look like a hyper-hybrid, alien type creature."
Well no, but...
no.
This is Chrystopher. He is one of the main characters and the protagonist in Humans From 20XX.
(Also, his hands aren't missing, they are in his non-existent pockets.)
When you take control of Chrystopher, you will be able to wield weapons, in overworld or in battle, such as guns, swords, knifes, anything to your hearts content.
...That is, if you want to kill everybody and be more of a controlling, psychotic controlling asshole than our antagonist, Malum.
Now you ALSO might be thinking "Who is the antagonist?? Can we see his sprite and an explanation about his role in this game?"...
...and to that I would answer I am not showing his sprite, NOR his explanation yet,
Because I'm still on the drawing-boards for Malum.
The Storyline Sneak Peak
The following could contain spoilers for how the game is planned to run when it's released.
Story Overview
An evil leader from the year 20XX has time traveled to the year 2030 to attempt to kidnap and take over a teenagers mind, whose name is Chrystopher. You have to stop him from destroying the earth, or you can instead attempt to annihilate the entire earth before he does.
Killing and Befriending People
The main hub for our story will be Falls Town. It will be where the main characters go when you befriend them. The more people you befriend, the more lively the town will be.
If you only kill enemies that encounter you, the town will be the same throughout the game.
If you take it upon yourself to murder every single person in the town, it will become a devastated wasteland of dead corpses. Attempting to encounter an enemy will result in nothing.
All of these rules apply for every world in the game.
Locations
Falls Town - The main hub of the game.
Malum's Ship - Where Malum kidnaps you and you must escape.
Plainview Plains - The second world of the game.
Dark Forest - The third world of the game.
Ship Battle in Space - Where the post final fight takes place.
A Dark Realm - Where the final battle takes place.
Gameplay Expectations
Humans From 20XX will be about Chrystopher trying to learn his ability to change the present by changing things from the past. The butterfly effect will be an essential mechanic at the end of the game.
In battle, you will have a couple of choices on screen to choose to act on in battle.
Attack
Attacking will allow you to use whatever weapon you have equipped to attack your enemies using a mouse.
Run
Running will have a 75% success rate. If you fail to run, your defense will drop, allowing the enemy to launch better attacks on you.
Stand
Standing will do nothing in terms of dealing damage to the enemy, or making them refuse to fight, but if you keep using this option, your enemy will tire of fighting you, as it's pointless, and you will become friends.
Item
You can use items to heal yourself or the enemy, or equip armor and such. Giving enemies items might making them less eager to fight you.
Action
You can use actions to lower the enemies attack or defense, or maybe also communicate to them to stop fighting.
Thanks for reading this short little update on Humans From 20XX! I'll be back with more information on gameplay, sprites, maybe even tracks. See you guys later!
