(psst. I’m streaming game development right now, it’s at: https://picarto.tv/Cmari3games)
Happy (kinda late) New Year everyone!
Since it has been about a month since I started this project, I wanted to go over the progress I have made, and set some new goals for 2017.
When I started making The Wish, I only had a small game planned, since I only was using the free version of RPG Maker, and my initial goal was that I would be finished with it by the time Mark hit 16 Million subscribers.
But as of this morning, Mark is at 16,055,080 subs, and the game, even in the much small version, would not have been close to complete by earlier this week.
However, now that I have the full version of RPG Maker, my original vision for the game has expanded, and I have had a lot of time on my hands to work on the game. I have also received quite a lot of support and help form the community surrounding the game. Without you, I would never have made the progress that I have.
I’m going to list off what I need to complete the game. Points with a + mean that I am in the progress of completing, or know that someone else is. A * means that that part is completed. No mark means that I have had little to no progress in completing them, and if you see a blank space that you think you can help, then please comment below.
Have a map completely designed with:
A town with
At least 4 houses completely designed
A field with a dungeon entrance+
At least one store+
A bar/restaurant with lighting effects inside*
A beachfront, where multiple events take place, and a day/night cycle implemented +
A second dungeon
A third map that will be visited quite often, each time being different in some way.
Receive assets for:
Sprites (both overworld and faces)
Mark*
Jack*
Various other Youtubers
Monsters
NPC’s+ (I will probably just stick to the sprite creator for them)
Battlers
1 final boss
3 smaller bosses +
Many smaller monsters and demons
Artwork
An opening screen for the game*
Battle backgrounds for different stages of the game
Various tiles and specific sprites for items etc
Promotional artwork
Music +
as long as the people who have told me they have committed to the project do their part, then this part is covered. If not, I will probably use what songs I have permission to use already along with royalty free songs.
Programming (the part I do on my own)
Write the story
Program in events+
Program Battles
Programming all the assets in+
Using scripts (They are the WORST! if anyone was watching the stream last night, you probably saw how much of a pain it was for me to do)+
Putting the entire game together
Have playtesters help find errors in the game
Fix issues
Polish the final game
Releases
Make a short Demo showing off the assets given+
Release a full demo when the majority of the game is complete
Finally Releasing the game
Updating the game to fix errors and make improvements
As I continue progress on the game, I will update the list to let you all see how the game is going.
I don’t have an exact date to when all of these will be done. I have college and that takes priority over everything else. But now that I have these points set, I can properly manege my time and let you know what I need and how you can help.
As always, thank you for supporting The Wish, and if you haven’t yet, please sign the guestbook. It’s a really good way to show your support, and even leave a message to Markiplier, no sign ups necessary.
Let’s make this year great.
