- Before You Begin -
I want to thank all the people that have worked on this game so far!! Though I will admit progress has slowed down a bit sadly, it looks like this game is having development issues and other team problems which is why I've decided to update the Application forms. If you want to help with this game apply here!! - https://forms.gle/v2PkQhkgbrKGrYfS9
- Ideas & Concepts -
We're doing things here in a different order than in our last devlog, so why don't we start with the Ideas & Concepts to explain everything afterward of this
As experienced Darkless history studying veterans may know, Darkless's UnderSwap Papyrus Fight originally was a prolouge of DustSwap Darkless's Take, which is a remake of DustSwap, which is also know as DustSwap Slurp's Take, which is also a Undertale Fangame made in tribute to an FNF mod named UnderFunk also made by the same guy that was making DustSwap Slurp's Take, to be fair I've been making the same damn game for 5 years now and I am so sick of it!! So we've decided to start rebranding, we know that if we were to make DustSwap Darkless's Take we'd need to make a watered down UnderSwap first! So that's why I've decided where switching this to now be known as UNDERSWAP: JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
and honestly I'll be honest in saying that I feel quite guilty as I've been using my "game" making excuse to go and delude others into thinking that I am in fact the greatest (even though I am). So I've decided that there will be no pauses, no setbacks, nobody is going to get in the way of us making this game. Sometimes in life you can't let situations dictate your life, sometimes you need to take what is yours. So without any further doubt... Introducing
UNDERSWAP: JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
Here I changed the name to this as a way of being more creative than just Darkless's UnderSwap, and this is a full UnderSwap game. So let me explain parts of the rebranded game for you.
All things relating to being Swapped!!!
So one thing I realized is that this UnderSwap game that I was making, was having a hard time actually living up to the title of UnderSwap, in short not too many things were swapped. So here's what is swapped.
Characters:
Undertale Frisk - Underswap Chara
Undertale Flowey - Underswap Temmie
Undertale Toriel - Underswap Asgore
Dummy - Glad Dummy (it's not mad Dummy since it'd be fitting for him to take on his Glad form as a Swap of original Mad Dummy's character being swapped into the training dummy in the original Ruins)
Undertale Napstablook - Underswap Hapstablook (the happy ghost)
Undertale Sans - Underswap Papyrus
Undertale Papyrus - Underswap Sans
Undertale Royal Guard Dogs - UnderSwap Royal Guard Cats (Cats and Dogs switch)
Undertale Rabbit Lady Shopkeeper - UnderSwap Burgerpants (Shopkeepers are also switching with shopkeepers later in the original Undertale)
Undertale Grillby - UnderSwap Muffet
Undertale Undyne - Undertale Alphys
Undertale Monsterkid - UnderSwap Asriel
Undertale Alphys - UnderSwap Undyne
Undertale Mettaton - UnderSwap Napstaton
Undertale Asgore - UnderSwap Toriel
Battle Encounter Monsters:
Flooded Home
Undertale Froggit - Underswap First Froggit (Final Froggit but at the begging of the game instead of the Final parts of core)
Undertale Whimsum - Underswap Whimsalot (Whimsalot from Undertale's Core but less powerful)
Undertale Loox - Underswap Astigmatism (Astigmatism from Undertale's Core but less powerful)
Undertale Vegetoid - Underswap Tomatoid (Instead of being a carrot it's Tomato (Fruit technically) now)
Undertale Moldsmal - Underswap Rock (Instead of being slimy and see-through these slimes are now ROCK-hard, this also replaces all pushable rocks in the overworld with moldsmals, who some are living and talking and others are asleep)
Undertale Migosp - Underswap Fider (spider bake sale spider, Spider kills bugs, Migosp is a bug, Prey is opposite of Predator, though since Grillby is doing the bake sale with the spiders, all spiders are eternally blazing)
Yuvax Fortress
Undertale Icecap - Underswap Pyrope (Pyrope but weaker, uses bombs still and has a cool visor on)
Undertale Chilldrake - Underswap Knight Knight (Chill and Sleepy and big and a knight fitting medieval themed Hotland)
Undertale Glyde - Underswap So Sorry (Both secret encounters and both kinda cool)
Undertale Snowdrake - Underswap Madjick (best bud of Knight Knight a bit sad since you killed him, usually fight together)
Undertale Gyftrot - Underswap Plain Plane (instead of being decorated in gifts, this is a really PLAIN tsunderplane
Undertale Lesser Dog - Underswap Greater Cat
Undertale Greater Dog - Underswap Lesser Cat
Undertale Doggo - Underswap Catio
Dogamy and Dogeressa - Catcuterie and Caterebra
Undertale Jerry - Underswap Vulkin (we need to add Vulkin in somewhere and Vulkin is kinda talkative I guess)
Zen Central
Undertale Wousha - Underswap Dirty-Done-Duck (it's a really dirty duck that was in the original Wousha design)
Undertale Aaron - Underswap Garesnail (instead of being really muscular this is the snail from the snail race, meaning the snail race in this game will be the horse race, his name is Garesnail since Undertale's Snail race is a reference to Spongebob's Squarepants The Great Snail Race episode where Spongebob trains Gary too hard to win the race, so I guess this is kinda Gary from Spongebob, A spongebob character is in the game guys)
Undertale Shyren - Underswap Moldbygg (I don't know if this is a different character or not, Moldbygg is so incredibly weird that he'll just take place as a tall figure who hates singing instead of hating being physical like in the original undertale)
Undertale Temmie - Underswap Flowey (tries to trick you with his "Friendliness Pellets" like in the original Undertale, he gets scared off by a Garesnail though since he thinks Snails are freaky)
Sprouted Launch
Undertale Tsunderplane - Underswap Gyftrot (pretty decorated because it's opposite of the Plain Plane)
Undertale Vulkin - Underswap Jerry
Undertale Pyrope - Underswap Ice Cap
Undertale Madjick - Underswap Snowdrake (only found after killing Chilldrake)
Undertale Knight Knight - Underswap Chilldrake
Undertale So Sorry - Underswap Glyde (Secret boss found by moving around in a weird place)
Undertale Royal Guards 01 & 02 - Underswap Royal Guards 03 & 04 (I'm replacing Guards 01 & 02 with the unused Undertale's Royal Guards 03 & 04)
Amalgamates - Amalgamates (For story and plot reasons it's important these characters are not switched at all, though the amalgamates designs are going to be different, the dog amalgamate are going to look like cats and any almagamate based on another encounter in the original undertale will be based on the same encounter in UnderSwap)
There are no more enemy encounters after our Underswap's Hotland, we're completely excluding any acknowledgement of Undertale's Core, there it was straight up padding, here it's gone
Lastly here's other miscellaneous Swaps
Characters abilities are swapped
Underswap Papyrus has Sans's time abilities and dodge abilities
Underswap Sans has Papyrus's walking on air ability and control over the battle
A Characters Knowledge is not swapped
Underswap Alphys Knows about the Greenhouse but Undyne does not
Underswap Sans knows about resets, Papyrus does not
Characters personalities stay the same
Underswap Sans is quite humorous
Undertale Papyrus is naive
So if you're wondering about any of the areas listed above I'll tell you the main substance of each area
Flooded Home
Flooded Home is this games version of Undertale's Ruins, You meet Temmie at their shop and they teach you the basics of the game and then try to kill you, but you escape and you reach Flooded Home, believe it or not it's full of water, if you get in a battle with an enemy in the water you will have to end the battle in a certain amount of time or else you'll start drowning, get fuzzier vision and get a game-over. You meet Asgore and unlike Toriel he's not a overprotective figure, in fact he's insanely distant from the player. You meet with him a couple of times and he asks you to fix the Flooded Homes Sewer problem, he also talks with you a fair amount and hears about you from other monsters that you spare You continue solving puzzles in the Flooded Home and pushing Moldsmals across the ground up until you meet Hapstablook, Hapstablook is happy, and doesn't impead you to much, eventually you make it to Asgore's house where he sends you into the sewers with a monster and you fix the sewer problem sucessfully unflooding the entire Flooded Home, if you backtrack even, you can see how the area now has no water anymore. Asgore then fights you. You get through to him and he gives you his phone number and then you reach the next area which is the
Yuvax Fortress
you press forward meeting Sans at a station between Flooded Home and the Yuvax Fortress, the joke being nobody in Flooded Home ever leaves the Flooded Home typically so his job there checking identification is entirely pointless. Sans walks on air up onto a balcony and tries to shoot at you, but because of a distraction he drops his gun and it misfires shooting Papyrus instead, Papyrus meets up with you one-to-one after this confrontation to make sure you don't have cold feet. You continue forth having to confront many enemies on the way looking for the human that Sans told everyone about on the intercom. Papyrus realizes you as a potential friend and so he tries to be friends with you. Papyrus tries to protect you from death that point forth, and then you go to the Skeleton Brothers Palace and fight Sans at that point, you see they are both royalty in their own kingdom.
the rest of the areas are not nearly as far developed so I will not be mentioning them at all in this devlog
Also an update is that we're getting rid of any of mentions of the Nightmare Sequence, as we're completely scrapping it in fact, I'll be hiding most of the genocide storyline from you guys until the game is released because that's kinda one of the best parts of the game.
- Sprites -
Here's a sprite I made for Sans in the overworld. It's based on the original sans overworld sprite and it's toby-styled

here's a spritesheet @mrtreeman21
and I worked together on for the Papyrus fight

isn't it great and magnificent!! Here's even a flowey-themed death for him.
This is all from me and my team lately!! Happy St. Patricks Day!!!
