He's silent as he rather not speak unless it's absolutely necessary. Instead he let his own actions speak for him. Really harsh towards whoever he show futures to, especially that if the future can bring destruction to the someone's own self, or others around him. But his harshness is for a reason, he is actually quite of a rational and analytical man who doesn't go all through his feelings, yet he has difficulty to express his own emotion other than resentment.
He's not death personified or his relative, but many considers him so because most of the future he shows are deaths.
