Heartless Log - April 2026 (#5)

It's that time again!

My university semester has ended which means development is back in full gear. Work continues on Phase III, and now to some legitimate extent, Phase IV! There's still a fair amount to do for the ashen forest, but what has already been made far surpasses that. I'm going to keep this dev log short because I'll let what comes next speak for itself.

Development for the game started on August of 2023. It was an idea that was floating around in my head about a month before that, too. I was messing around with some character designs I made a while ago - started spriting frames for full movement, a lot of combat animations, put them together in RPGMaker, all just for the fun of it. Then I noticed I was having *too* much fun, so then I made up a story I wanted to tell, hit up my friend Shroom to discuss it, and then it snowballed from there. This means we're coming up on about three years of development now.

It also means that the one-year anniversary for the demo's release is very soon! And while it's a little too early to celebrate for that just yet, I still want to show some things off:

First... a look into one of the areas in Phase III: No Man's Land.

Second... a song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3aQEIrAdug) for one of the fights you can encounter along the path, by Kolificent.

"It's a tragedy, really. The Vowmen have done their job, but at many costs. Well - the ashen plumes look beautiful this time of night."

See you next time! Enjoy!

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

Enemies can also suddenly spawn through Realm Rifts. These Rift Spawns are going to be stronger than the ones wandering around. TBD on the enemies... #screenshotsaturday #godstear #madewithunity

Family band complete!

Demonstration of the spells and their effects :)!

Today I tackled drawing different variations of facial expressions for one of the main characters in Eden. What do you think of it? :) Eden: https://gamejolt.com/games/Eden/592698
