About three months ago we found this Audi on Ebay, and since I fell in love with the Audi 80 B2 it was perfect, but once we gave the previous owner a visit to look at the car we noticed how much work it’s going to need, which was fine because we knew this will be my car.
Having taken it home three days later I immediately started doing everything I could do alone, which was mainly cleaning out the interior and throwing away leftover garbage.
After the Audi was with us for almost two weeks we decided to do a test drive, getting a feel for what’s fine and what has to be replaced, the previous owner told us the clutch is bad, which was mainly why we did the drive, and he wasn’t wrong, it was slipping.
Having finished the drive we made a list of stuff to replace, brakes, clutch, tires, some stuff on the engine and a new passenger door since the current one was damaged in a parking garage.
4 weeks have passed from this day and we finally took the Audi to our shop to get everything repaired, which was fun, I pretty much disintegrated the clutch driving uphill.
It then spent a good two weeks sitting around looking bored, but then we took it on the lift and the repairs started, first the left, rusted out side skirt was welded up, then we took out the transmission to swap the whole clutch mechanism, while doing so the brakes were also swapped, the old ones weren’t bad, but a bit rusty, transmission back in the engine was next, timing belt was swapped out and all important gaskets were changed.
And this is were we are today, the Valve Cover Gasket is making problems but other then that we have made a lot of progress.
Future plans are painting over scratches and removing rust, and after that it’ll get a historic registration, the Audi is 40 years old so it’s perfect, and it’s not only old, it’s an Audi 80 SC, one of the rarest or even the rarest option for this car.
Once it’s finished I might do another post, whoever wants to can do Fan Art or something, just give me Credit, bye now.
