On August 22, 2020, Scott Cawthon announced The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative; a collaboration with multiple fangame developers including Kane Carter. As such, POPGOES Evergreen, alongside POPGOES Arcade and myPOPGOES, are a part of the Fanverse and will all receive console and mobile ports as well as possible merchandise and toys.
POPGOES Evergreen (tentatively titled as POPGOES 2020 Edition and later The POPGOES Reboot) is a complete reboot of POPGOES, an independently-made point-and-click fangame based off the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. It was announced on April Fools' Day 2020 alongside the reveal of POPGOES Arcade.

2020
The official reboot for POPGOES was announced in 2020, April Fools Day. Along with that, came the reveal of POPGOES Arcade which released on June 12th of that same year. Getting a full 100% completion of that game gained the player access to the Arcade Room with the new Popgoes model.

The original name for the game was simply POPGOES 2020 Edition. However, due to delays in the development it was clear to the team it wouldn't get a 2020 release. It was their believe it was necessary for the audience to know the name change as soon as possible. Via a YouTube premiere on August 9th, the new title was eventually revealed: POPGOES Evergreen.

2021
January 10th, 2021 presented a problem to the team: A large number of assets in the Kitchen were purchased online rather than being custom made. 8 days later, all of the assets were recreated to be custom made. The original modeler of the team left the team despite that, though Kane assures that their relationship to the team is still on equal ground. More detail on the Kitchen was discussed, and a flashlight feature on the cameras was announced on January 22nd. Kane Carter believes the claustrophobic nature of the flashlight feature makes the game scarier and also estimates the game to be 15% finished.

January 30th, Kane Carter uploaded a big POPGOES Evergreen FAQ on the game's Game Jolt page. Among the questions asked, a console port is "planned" but no updates can be given as it's without Kane's control, the premium content being non-canon, de-confirming any characters from POPGOES 2: The Dead Forest to appear, Gem Stone; Grave Stone and the Lux animatronics to also be de-confirmed to appear while also confirming Simon to reappear due to his importance to the plot along with a "CRAZY good" redesign. The playable character's identity is also not confirmed, and Kane expects the audience to speculate who they are. The Car Park camera will have an use, while suggesting to the audience if they have any ideas for the Staff Room camera besides being an indicator for Sara and Saffron to be active. Accessibility for colourblind players, a normal and "true" ending, and a consideration of a sequel if Evergreen does well critically and financially.

June 8th, because of the Evergreen's Game Jolt page reaching 10,000 followers, Stone the Crow's new design was fully revealed and, because of the milestone being reached before POPGOES' anniversary, its 2D design. As a regular status update, Odium was also announced to be joining the team as an animator, a new room would be replacing the Staff Room, and a final design was decided for Simon.
June 26th, Dawko held a 24-hour charity livestream for the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization focused on suicide prevention among LGBTQ youths. To assist with the project, and to coincide with POPGOES' 5th anniversary, Kane Carter held a charity pack that revealed certain parts of the rebooted POPGOES series via four stretch goals. All four goals were reached and revealed key artwork, music, the Art Room, and the introduction of cards; the collectibles in POPGOES Evergreen.

July 10th had all of the rooms getting a scaled overhaul due to each room being a separate model; it was previously never intended for each room to be joined together at the same size. Kane appropriately dubbed this overhaul "Operation Embiggen".
August 21st's status update, while focused on POPGOES Arcade, Kane still mentioned the status of POPGOES Evergreen, being "'early' in development."
As a follower goal, if POPGOES Evergreen's reached 13,000 followers before Dawko's stream on September 18th, Sara the Squirrel's new design would be revealed during that event. Appropriately too, stretch goals for the stream were announced that would reveal some more of Sara in Evergreen.

On September 21st of 2021, the official Tumblr account for POPGOES opened up with its first post describing the game and its perks.
November 29th gained a first look at Blake the Badger.

December 7th got the official GameJolt page for POPGOES Evergreen.
Dawko took part in Jackscepticeye's Thanksmas event on December 12th with a separate livestream on his own channel. As extra incentive to donate, stretch goals were created that revealed extra renders of Blake the Badger and a reveal of the Party Room.

2022
March 15th of 2022 revealed Saffron the Squirrel along with a handful of renders of her.

July 9th saw the official reveal of the main gameplay space and a full 360 turnaround. The end of the video confirms that development is still in its early stages At the same time, Kane Carter revealed on his Twitter that a full day/night cycle for the game's "Endless" mode would be added, adding that the night would change in regular gameplay anyway.

On August 25th, Kane Carter revealed on Twitter the return of the Toy animatronics via a test render of Toy Freddy in the Party Room. They were clarified to not be Easter Eggs like in the original, but served a completely different purpose.

With September 18 2022, a new phone case for POPGOES Evergreen, "PhoneUnit", was revealed.

On September 30, 2022, Kane Carter posted the first weekly update for POPGOES Evergreen. He stated that he will from now on continue making weekly progress updates for the game.

2023
August 2nd, Kane tweets there will not be a Custom Night, while also revealing some quick mockups for challenges.
On August 5th, 2023, following the removal of Five Nights at Freddy's Plus from the Steam Store and Phil Morg's termination from the Fanverse project, Kane Carter released an image of a scrapped "Ghost Detector" phone case that he made in collaboration with Phil.

On August 9, 2023. Although Popgoes can't be blocked yet, he can move correctly in the pizzeria and pick up and place Blackrabbit pieces. Parts are now placed in a specific order, but each can now be purchased from one of the three printers.

This means that Popgoes can technically print a single piece from each printer room (like the original game). Can visit some previous rooms. He can even print 3 pieces from one room and 3 pieces from the other if he wants to be really weird about it. It felt pretty random.
Also, these drawings are placeholder pictures drawn by Emil (Macko) to finish things early. Dynamic environment/music is programmed so the background sound becomes more frightening depending on the current level of constant panic.
On August 10, 2023, One Night at Flumpty's and Five Nights at Freddy's Plus (customization only, currently canceled and scrapped) versions of the panic bar were revealed. Kane Carter said that "it was fun to work on, even though it won't be added to the game right now".

On September 8th, Carter would make an update post on Game Jolt, saying he's played an early build of the game and it already has some quality-of-life improvements and additions. June 26th of 2025; POPGOES ARCADE: The Fighting Chance has been release during POPGOES (2016) Anniversary Event!

Battle Gifts will introduce one of nine random status effects into the battle (three positive, three neutral, and three negative), but will prevent players from escaping that battle. Battle Gifts will only appear in 50% of battles. 2 additional effects of each alignment are added during the Machinist DLC. Winning battles with each effect awards the player extra coins depending on the difficulty of the effect.
Several abilities have been reworked such as:
Escaping is now immediately accessible from the start of the game, rather than requiring the player to purchase the level 2 Hook upgrade. However, the chances of escaping are not guaranteed and a failed escape will use up the player's turn.
The chances of escape are determined by the strength of the enemy. Common enemies can be escaped from 50% of the time, uncommon enemies can be escaped from 33% of the time, and rare enemies can be escaped from 17% of the time. Purchasing the "Escape" ability will give you a guaranteed escape from any non-boss battle.
The "Shortcut" ability has been replaced with "Tunnel", which allows the player to travel to a Shop or Inn at any time rather than from holes throughout the map.
The Money Boots unlockable has been replaced with the Quick Pocket unlockable, which will allow players to use one "buff" item (such as ATK Up, DEF+, or Shield) at the start of a battle without wasting a turn.
Various modifications have been made to the battle and dialogue systems in order to make them more efficient.
Holding Select (SPACE) during a Battle will allow you to instantly use your turn.
Holding Pause (E) during dialogue will allow you to quickly skip through it.
Most, if not all, of the character sprites have been updated to more closely resemble their animatronic/cartoon designs.
The in-game economy has been adjusted in order to make the money system more manageable and balanced across each area of the game.
Enemies in the West Forest drop five fewer coins than those in the South Forest, though enemies in the North and East Forests will drop five more.
The costs of consumables and one-off purchases, such as Jukebox songs, have been increased.
The permanent upgrades to Popgoes' HP and Attack have also been adjusted to dynamically increase over the course of the game, starting at a low cost and drastically increasing in price over time.
This upgrade system is described as "supply and demand" in-game.
A stamp system has been added to Holly's Shop to make coins more useful outside of the stat upgrade system.
Buying an item rewards the player with 1/3 of a stamp. After collecting enough stamps, the player will be able to use their collected stamps in order to purchase consumable items. Stamps cannot be used to purchase upgrades. Acorn and ATK Up items cost 1 stamp, Fruit and DEF+ items cost 2 stamps, and Pizza and Shield items cost 3 stamps.
The achievements system has been reworked to allow players to access achievements directly inside of the game rather than the Steam client for parity on ported versions of the game.
The player will be notified in-game when they obtain an achievement.
5 new achievements have also been added to each section of the game.
Some boss medals was slightly updated, as well as adding two new medals for defeating the secret bosses.
The "Dethroned Ultra" achievement has been adjusted to allow the player to purchase the Battle abilities prior to fighting Dead King Freddy, but not using them in battle will get you the achievement.
Enemy spawn rates have been adjusted, causing enemies to spawn less on dirt paths or rail tracks and more elsewhere.
The Corruption Hotspots and Power Surges have been adjusted to force Popgoes to slow down, preventing players from accidentally leaving the areas. Background particle effects have also been added.
Bosses from POPGOES: The Dead Forest and POPGOES and The Machinist you have already defeated can be battled again via The Bestiary/Index.
The Jukebox interface was slightly redesigned to remain more visually consistent throughout each chapter of the game. Two new tracks have also been added.
May 16th - June 20th of 2025; Hex brought back the Popgoes & Candy plush in the Hex Store at the online web. Dawko the owner of Hex Store said "The campaign LIVE has started, but end in July 31st"!! Kane & Emil the creator of POPGOES & FNaC, battle each other which is how sold percentage they have before ended.

The campaign has ended in August 1st 2025, but they can still buy these before they shipped off to the order locations!
GAME FEATURES!

POPGOES is an official, fan-developed Five Nights at Freddy's spinoff series that only takes the first three FNAF games into account, and POPGOES Evergreen is the newest entry, officially backed by Scott Cawthon as part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative.
One year has passed after the fire at Fazbear's Fright. An inventor has single-handedly revived the animatronic restaurant genre with his own location called The Popgoes Pizzeria. Promising total safety with his advanced and well-behaved animatronics, the man truly believes he might own the greatest family restaurant ever.
However, Popgoes the Weasel and his animatronic gang are only well-behaved because that's how they were programmed. Popgoes sings and makes pizza, Blake helps kids with their WeaselWare phones, Stone gives directions outside the building... They all do exactly as they are told, as any robot should.
But, unfortunately for you, it looks like somebody has just told them to do something else...

The gameplay of POPGOES Evergreen will be overhauled drastically. Mechanics will mostly stay the same, but their execution will be improved as much as possible. The game will feature seamless turning animations, easier-to-understand office interactions, and at least one new mechanic that we're having a lot of fun brainstorming. We are also removing the "brain minigames" and replacing them with a large overarching storytelling device (which is probably the toughest part of the game for us to work on, considering it is brand new).

In April of 2023, you play as Bonnie Glade going to get a toolbox from the attic for her father. While searching for it you uncover an old chest. Inside is a Chica plush from your Mom, a 3D Printed mask of Toy Bonnie you made, and an old cardboard box. This then leads to a flashback in the year 2008, where it is Bonnie's 10th birthday unwrapping a gift from her dad. In the card he notes how he is sorry he can't be with her, and that he hopes his present will suffice as an apology.

Inside the box is a small toy version of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, with a transparent LCD screen and three buttons in the front. There is also a note explaining how Fritz made this game for her because it was around the time he started going to Freddy's as a child. He explains that he based it around the character she created, Popgoes, and how you have to care for him for a total of five days.

After completing the game you flash forward back to 2023, where you hear Fritz calling from downstairs asking if you were able to find the toolbox. You respond by turning your back to the chest and upon returning to it, you see Bonnie's body sticking out of it.

The game follows the perspective of a kid playing an arcade machine in the Popgoes Pizzeria. You play as Popgoes the Weasel. Just like its predecessors, POPGOES Arcade is an RPG game, where your point is to explore the areas, fight enemies and upgrade your character. Popgoes doesn't level up with battles, but he can get stronger thanks to damage and health upgrades that can be found in Holly's shop. Manora can save the progress in the Inn. When Popgoes loses in a battle, he will lose all the progress since the last save point. The game is very linear and the player has to follow the directives to proceed with the story and to battle bosses. After defeating bosses in their Dead form, Popgoes will obtain their Traversal Abilities - Jump, Hook and Dig. They are necessary to enter some areas and to finish the game. They can be later upgraded using Emerald Coins hidden throughout the map.

During battle, Popgoes can attack an enemy, defend from an attack, use an item, and if Traversal Abilities have been upgraded, use Dead Animal abilities or Run from battle. You can't Run from a boss battle. Enemy's health and power are fully visible during the battle. When Popgoes wins, they will earn 10, 15, 25 or 50 Coins, depending on the enemy. Enemies may charge to deal a critical attack with triple damage. They will waste a turn to deal bigger damage in the next one. If Popgoes defends, the damage will be halved to 1.5 of the basic attack. Popgoes can also randomly deal a critical attack and he doesn't need to wait a bonus turn for it to happen.

Chica, Bonnie and Foxy have their own abilities, which they use every third turn during their battles. Chica's ability is Jump and she will avoid every third attack. If Popgoes is defending or using an item during the third turn, she will wait for the next attack to jump. Chica will jump and attack in the same turn, but when Popgoes uses her ability, he will only jump in the battle. Foxy's ability is Hook and he will deal five times the basic damage to Popgoes. When Popgoes uses his ability, it's lowered to triple damage. Bonnie's ability is Dig and he will use it to heal during battle. When Popgoes uses this ability, he will dig a random item and instantly use it.
