Once upon a time there was a farmer who lived besides a witch on a hill

the farmer has lots of normal plants but also really exotic ones that nobody knows how they got em

the farmer had to deal with random kidss and people ruining his farm for fun until one day he had enough!!!

he went to the witch's house and asked her to help him with it

they conducted a potion that gives plants "fake souls"

these faux souls aren't like normal souls. nor are they even usually compatible with the plants

a lot of plants rots quickly due to being incompatible with the potion

if a plant bearing one "dies", they get sent to a place void from any reality. it can be considered a limbo ( despite the fact that it's not really one :V )

a mysterious entity only named as "???" finds souls released from living bodies and put a "stop-code" to them

after some point, ??? notices these faux souls getting sent to "limbo". due to the fact that they're not true souls, ??? can't put a stop-code to them

so ??? essentially takes the form of something that they'd be comfortable with and also take care of them. sometimes even tries to let them go on the surface for a short while ( <<< BACKSTORY FOR THE "UNDEADS" )

after a while of the Farmer and the Witch experimenting with different plants, there's bound to be some that becomes berzerk ( <<< BACKSTORY FOR "RAVAGERS" )

the two are usually able to succeed at fending them off, but one slipped by their radar

once upon a time, the farmer poured the potion onto a dead tree and it became berzerk ( <<< BACKSTORY FOR "ROOT" )

they eventually trapped him in the office area and waited until it rots and dies. but Root instead "turned back into a regular plant"

this had never happen before but the farmer eventually just brushed it off

now near the present, the Farmer and the Witch decided to go on vacation

considering they built a lil family of cute plants they decided to find someone online to be a caretaker

The player found the job post after going into a rabbithole on how corals are animals and accepted it cause they needed to pay rent :P

right before the farmer leaves, he got worried that one of his most exotic plants is about to die before it even blooms ( <<< BACKSTORY FOR "DANGER" )

so out of panic he very quickly just poured the entire flask onto it. little did he know that it would be the seed of danger :3

the player takes care of the lil peeps for a few nights, but then in night 3 ROOT GETS OUT OF IT'S DORMANT STATE BABYY!!

root didnt' turn back into a regular plant ya silly goose!

and then in night 4 spooooky final boss takes over the cabin!!

a bit of spoilers for the boss of the game:

• Danger is a hyper-intelligent entity that branched off of a rafflesia flower

• danger's so intelligent that he's able to evolve and adapt into anything he wants. and he decided to try to create a new KINGDOM OF LIFE ( like Animals, plants, fungus, etc ) with the goal of replacing all of them

• he does this by making 3 "Starter entities" named Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Alpha would replace humans, Beta would replace any stationary beings, and Gamma would replace any other animals ( starting from the sea )

• Alpha and Beta somehow evolved fast enough to create a seperate evolution line. Alpha's being a literal demorgon and the other being a frickin bomb

• the raflimorphs are made from a material formed using the petals of a rafflesia flower named "Pseudo-flesh". it's also worth-mentioning that the raflimorphs are still considered plants :V they're still not distant genetic-wise to be considered that they're in an officially seperate kingdom

• Danger takes over ROOT as a host

• eventually, Player realizes they're very flammable considering they're all essentially still plants. so they decide to drop a lighter on the floor to burn the entire cabin and also sacrificizing themselves :3
