Basically, in this world, we live in the ruins of past, likely bronze age civilizations (yet still far more advanced than our modern times). Nobody can read or write, and most in our area do fishing, or preserve fish, or something similar. We have very little care or need of money (that last bit sounds kinda nice tbh )
Anyways, what "magic" there is, is more superstitious. The line between delusion and actually effective magic is quite blurry.
I knew from before the lore drops started I wanted to play a character who was weak in Strength and Will, but gifted in some other way, likely magical. Leaning into the idea of being kind of a weirdo (or wyrdo if you prefer) was definitely very appealing.
I'm still ironing out a lot of the kinks in her character, and I think I have a few too many ideas going on at the moment, so I wanna cut some of them back. But she's definitely got some weird sensitivities and is a bit neurodivergent, sleeps with one eye open (literally), has more ability in magics than most in the town (something she doesn't advertise), the magic tends to be focused on blood (so is she) and finally she has a very high deceive and empathy.
Basically, she's a people pleaser, who gets pretty distressed by any obvious social rejection. So she's developed a sort of "mask" that she wears at all times (metaphorically speaking).
As a result, she has a high empathy to read the room with, and a high deceive to tell people what she thinks they wanna hear. She'll even be doing this with the other players for a while, so opening up about her true feelings, if she does, will be some character development for her. She might not even know what all of those are herself.
Another thing that's really fun about this campaign is that all 3 PC's are siblings, which adds another layer to inter-player relationships.
There's some bad horsemen from the north coming, so our first decision will be how to leave (or even IF to leave- but I've got a hunch we're leaving. I want to leave. Tavora? Not so much, but she's not self-confident enough to say anything about it. I mean, at least she'd get to see a horse up-close, right? No ones seen one in two generations! And she's kinda lil obsessed with the idea)
There's a few different options which will pose different challenges to our group. Going by sea might have some advantages, but sea-men are more untrusting of the magical folk, so we'll see how all of it plays out.
If yall want I could post updates about what's going on in the campaign, but I doubt most of you'd be too interested lol. Session Zero proper is this Sunday tho. I can let yall know how it goes if you like ^.^
