Hey, I did it! (April Devlog)

I'm back!

I said that I'd be back at the end of April and I actually did it this time! Sure, you could say that I'm a day late as the end of April was yesterday, but ahhhhhhhhhhhh don't worry about that.

So let's detail the developments from the month of April!

  • Gromolia Castle Town has been expanded (again) it will now be comprised of 7 maps (Center section, southeast & southwest sections, east and west sections, and northwest and northeast sections). My thought process behind this was not only make castle town feel much bigger and a more prominent landmark for Gromolia, but to also feel sort of like an in-game & in-universe hub of sorts and the old design didn't personally get that feeling across.

  • Inik Town (like the castle town) has also been expanded, now having a much larger eastern section. Some buildings have also been rearranged. I noticed that it was strange that on the overworld map Inik Town is depicted as being 2 tiles long, will to-scale it's only 1 box like location, so I expanded it to actually match how it's depicted on the overworld.

  • I've begun rewritting and reformatting certain scenes, mainly the scene with the king on the 3F of Gromolia Castle, and the campfire scene after the first half of the summons scene.

  • I've fully determined how much side content will be in the story demo, that way the player has a little more of a choice on what to do if they don't want to do exclusively main story activities.

  • I've begun working on some other mechanics, and minigames (one of them may be a card game!)

  • I've begun fully piecing together the story, rather than just coming up with certain sections on the spot.

And that's it for the April Devlog! Personally I wish I could've gotten a bit more done this month, but that is something to tackle in the coming months.

All the best,

Stuck

Yes, I know how to spell.

Fan art for Foolish I'm feeling kinda better so I drew this

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Demonstration of the spells and their effects :)!
