This was the second (and last) game I made for the online course. The task was to create a small Android game in Unity. I think I never actually tested it on a phone.
On a gameplay level? Atrocious. You could either walk or run and switch between the two by clicking a button. The character always moved forward, and you could turn using keys or (supposedly) touch controls. The game itself had two levels: an absurdly hard obstacle course to get Earth into a portal and an arena map where you were chased by snakes and had to survive.
The part I enjoyed the most about making this game was crafting the story and cramming every possible reference into it. I realized the game was mine. I could add whatever the hell I wanted, and so I did. All the references scream "12-year-old in 2016." I even added an “easter egg”, a part of the map where you could leave the track and find a special area plastered with Die Antwoord posters. Yeah, I was really into them at the time.
And the music? La Monja Enana and Die Antwoord. I still enjoy them, but wow, back then, I looooved for them. Also, I used to be on the computer next to my dad, and he also liked that music, so we sometimes listened to it together while working on our stuff.
There’s not much else to say. I had fun making this. It wasn’t a super fun game back then, and it still isn’t, but I packed every reference my little brain could think of into it.
Also, if you want to give it a look for some reason, it's on gamejolt, not itchio. I don't really know why I didn't migrate that one too, but it feels a bit late now. Anyway, gamejolt, lorenax, The Call Of Baby Cthulhu.
See you in the next one!
