Hello fellow adventurers!
We’re so glad to release this early version of Ruben’s Puppets to the world!
With our previous game GOLDRUSHERS🤠 we learned how fun and useful it is to release early access versions to other gamers and share progress with them. We are excited to see you play the game and have you share your thoughts.
What is this game?
This game started off with a series of simple prototypes back in 2014, where you took the role of a wooden puppet that manages resources. The core actions of the player were based on trading with and acquiring wood, stone, and metal ores. There were multiple ways of transporting goods such as wacky wooden cars and even airplanes!
It was a decent prototype but it was lacking tension and conflict.
So I wondered - what if these resources were in high demand by other puppets? Villages and towns of different puppet factions that are in conflict? What if the player is caught in a full blown war between multiple puppet factions?
Real-time Strategy meets Third-person Action
This is the point where resource management mechanics led the prototypes more into Real-time Strategy game terrain.
The idea of combining Real-time Strategy mechanics with Third-person Action gameplay seemed like something with great potential.
Players were equipped with a powerful bow & arrow to change the outcome of the conflict. Additionally, we started developing the skeleton of a Real-time Strategy game, complete with workers, archers, soldiers and a king/queen.
Thanks for reading our very first devlog entry, check back soon for more news! 🌲
