How many tiles should i add to the level editor?

(A 'CAT'astrophe world)

(Just now realized i can use "articles" to type out everything without a character limit)

This had been on my mind ever since i've started using the Level editor, at first i thought a simple 24-32 Tile count would suffice, but then as i kept coding in the features, it slowly went to 256 tile graphics, which now that i think about it, could be a bit overkill...

To be fair, the editor in its current state isn't even ¼th of a megabyte at the moment, and i could try to think of 256 separate tile graphics (Only for half of them to not be used, i imagine...), as each one only takes about like 533-900 Bytes depending on how complex the sprite is

So i decided to make this poll!

the way i wanna approach this once i see what the results are, i'll make the last 64 Tiles solid colors of any kind (Red, green, blue, purple, pink, etc.), this can be used for backgrounds, pixel art or whatever else, I'm prioritizing creativity is what i'm trying to say

Any answer will be accepted!

Decided to add a simple lighting system for top-down tiles

With textures, i can't even tell that it's blocky; this ended up being more of a visual upgrade than what i previously thought!

Looks like Windows 9X compatibility is at an all time high for me here, I'm sure there's probably 1-5 people who are excited about this, but i found it fun to be able to play on such an old OS

Quest post - #Devruary (Decided to finally start answering these)

Learnt the hard way that backups can be VERY important, especially if it's on something you care about;

I've had some projects just completely corrupt themselves due to technical issues...

An achievement i'm most proud of related to game dev has to be on getting my games/software to work on just about everything
