How
YOU!
(Remake)
Notice:
This is a remake of my old article. I wanted to make this less cheesy/sloppy/silly. Also, this is much longer than the original, so I hope you read it all because nobody has to publish these important complaints ever again in their entire lives!
Also, please ignore my rants and aggressive talking. This IS a TRIGGERED article and all we talk about is how something TRIGGERS you. Read the warning/disclaimer below for more info.
WARNING / DISCLAIMER:
The following article is over-exaggerated. Not all opinions shared are accurate to my actual thoughts and feelings. And it is NOT meant to disrespect Scratch itself or anybody else. As of now, Scratch is doing fine statistically.
So, don't even try to scratch your head like that. We don't wanna see lice at all, and that's just gross.
This article is based off of the Triggered You series by Nathaniel Bandy. You can see his cool videos here on his YouTube channel: Nathaniel Bandy - YouTube.

The name. π Scratch? This has to be the most awkward programming language name of all time.
Let's just get it out of the way: Home page bad and downright boring. This is where you like this post and follow me because I'm just that relatable. π
This is the year 2022 and Scratch still has the old 2013 2.0 style on Scratch? Seriously, it's been nearly a decade.
Not even GameJolt keeps that old sh*t.
Scratch has a remarkable 93 million registered users, but most of those users only worked on artwork and music and never programmed anything with Scratch at all.
"Because the interface for the Scratch program is entirely built on clipping blocks together to make stuff move around, 10 year olds think that by making a project consisting of nothing but a block spastically moving around on the screen, they're suddenly geniuses."

This featured sections are absolute trash. All you get are just politically correct, safe, and boring projects and studios.
Nice and limited, it's the Scratch Team way.
If you open the editor without an account, a tutorial pop-up appears, as if I couldn't think of something creative to begin with. π
There should've been an option to turn off the "see inside" and the "remix" button. The fact that Scratch automatically licenses every single project to CC-BY-SA is very problematic as many Scratchers left the website permanently because of it.
You're telling me that my girlfriend's artwork above that is made on Scratch/TurboWarp is a worthy of being taken as a remix? What are ya'll smoking when coming up with these policies?
And to make matters worse, even if you are signed out, you can literally download any project to your computer. This means that literally ANYBODY WORLDWIDE can steal your work! π§
The only way to avoid this and protecting your work is to download the asset, open it in a browser, screenshot it, and then HD upload it via Scratch Addons so that nobody can steal it.
I recommend leaving a signature in your artwork, though.
OK, mister, if you like making artwork and sprites, and hate constant thievery on Scratch, then why would you leave your work vulnerable worldwide on this dumb website?
How am I not supposed to share my content on Scratch if that website is the only way for me to interact with the good community? Oh wait, never mind! GameJolt has a BETTER community than Scratch.
While I like that you are making your website "kid-friendly", honestly leaving some a little bit more mature content on the website would've been nice. For example, you allow Contra fangames on Scratch. That game has guns but not for killing humans, obviously.
I also liked it when people uploads videos to their YouTube channel addressing the big issues with Scratch, but apparently, anyone who uploads those kinds of videos just gets an alert from the Scratch Team, claiming that they are "attacking/gossiping about another user". Also, "user". They really couldn't make the alert more specific, couldn't they? And who am I exactly attacking against? Don't tell me that the Scratch Team is a literal user, and that doesn't exist, OK?
Let's be real, Scratch's moderation is absolute trash. Most of it isn't really that good! I do understand that you wanted to protect kids and stuff, but you should've just be more active with the community and learn others' perspectives so that you can get a better idea. Don't just assume that kids didn't know that guns existed, that's a terrible logic!
Because of all of this sh*t, the Scratch Team had very little community support which negatively impacted its overall reputation.
And because the Scratch Team is too busy working on their trash policies and moderation, the programming modders had all the time they want to make software 20 times faster than the original platform within weeks.
While I like the Scratch project advantages and the faster load times, other non-Scratch programming languages were the way to go because you can use as much data as you want, it loads a piece of its own software at a time, and they were able to create a higher quality image.
Nobody cares about these statistics! Everyone already remembers how trash your moderation is.
OH! Oh, no...that's not a good sign. The comments in this analytics kind of proves that there has been a lot of drama going on Scratch. Guys! Don't...do not get into flame wars, holy cow!
Don't even get me started on the remixes. This is A LOT WORSE! More remixes than new original projects? What have I gotten myself into?
And what did Scratch get out of their way to make their programming language exist? Google, Intel, Cartoon Network, and the LEGO foundation.
Ahhhhh... didn't think you're so cheesy, huh? Now I know where these block designs come from.
You couldn't ask for more of a stolen design, honestly. π
For some reason, the Chinese government blocks access from Scratch completely, and nobody knows why.
I gotta agree with this guy entirely. Remixing is the most obnoxious button in Scratch history. And recoloring is the most downright, lazy, uncreative, uninspiring, and insulting way to use Scratch.
Seriously, they need to stop remixing and recoloring! This still triggers everyone to this day! π
Why would they reject any of these ideas? They all look so cool to use! Now people makes hacked blocks nowadays and most of them don't work. π
Thank you, Scratch Team, for finally updating the studio design to 3.0! Only 9 years late!
But let's be real. The fact that the Scratch Team is purposely adding new limits to the website will make Scratch itself more and more obnoxious and useless to use.
One sad fact we all know is that as Scratch continues to grow, the quality will go down. π
Well, that's just an idiot move. π€ There's an actual browser extension policy on Scratch. And any kind of comment or post that talks about a browser extension get removed by the Scratch Team. How on earth can you assume that kids are so stupid that you are willing to protect them as if you are the parents? Now, that is what browser extensions are for, is to store some common data from you, and change your experience on the internet. Every browser extension has a name, description, and user rates that EVERYBODY should read.
What kind of wusses do they think we are?
UUUGGHHH, seriously? The Scratch Team just spams the remove button anytime they want to. What a balanced website, huh?
Nothing reminds me more of Scratch than a bunch of dudes angrily begging for specific features in your games to be removed. Wow, what a nice way to start a conversation to begin with.
The sad fact that people's unshared projects are completely lost all because of one mistake.
You wanna know why a lot of people who make decent content are underrated? Because this damn system only shows trending and popular content! People need empathy.
And worst of all, WHY CAN'T I SEE MY BEAUTIFUL TREE ANYMORE!?!?!?! π‘
Ss-sorry, just unfollow me right now. π
I went too far, didn't I?
OMG...that's a lot of writing. πͺ
I hope you guys like this new article. I spent a whole 2 hours on it. Also, please ignore the cussing in this article. I was doing it from someone else's perspective, plus, I don't like cussing at all. I added some censored cussing mainly for making the article a bit more funnier.
And PLEASE don't hate Scratch because of all of the things said in this article. I mean, Scratch is still doing kind of fine now but the problems addressed in this article are still a problem.
Now, if you wanna get untriggered, then stay here on GameJolt! π This website is 20 times better than Scratch, people have empathy, the moderation is great, and it has all of the cool features you need!
And I'll see you in the next post. Goodbye!
