Huge Demo Update with Online Co-op!
It's been a year since our last public demo was uploaded, so this update is extremely massive. Read more to see all the new features added!
2 player Online Co-op Multiplayer with cross platform support
This is probably our most massive feature of the update, as online is a pretty daunting task. Our build is set to US West so players can find each other easily, but don't fret if you're not located nearby as we've put in a lot of effort in supporting high ping playability as your own movements are not restricted, and we cover latency issues smoothly. In the current implementation it uses matchmaking, but as we get further into development we'll build out room selection, passwords and more to help you play with your friends.
3 playable characters
Each character is entirely unique in their own styles, they have their own gear sets, customizations and everything else. Try playing them all to see who you enjoy the most, or enjoy leveling all of them up together! Kota plays as a guardian with a lot of defense in his shield, absorbing attacks until it's ready to break, and releasing all that power back at the boss. Guren brings a wisp pet with her into combat, as she executes her combos, the wisp powers up, and allows Guren to perform her powerful charged attack. Teo maximizes his quick attacks with his flurry of stabs, and his amazing dash ability when completing his strong attack combo.
5 unique bosses + 3 challenge boss variations
The new bosses Talys and Vaeryth are now ready to tear you apart with some wild new attacks and abilities you'll need to learn in order to take them down!
Experience and leveling up with stat selections
We've finally added the RPG elements in our Action RPG. Killing bosses grants experience, and leveling up lets you select stat points to build your character the way you want.
Story with new dialog system and slide styled cinematics
You can now learn the story of the Ilcyon, The Bound, and much more about the world of Ashmyr through the new cinematics and dialog with all of the characters in town.
Combat revamped with faster pacing, tighter, and more responsive controls.
This may seem like a small change, and technically it was, but gameplay wise, this is one of our best improvements of the game we've made. We had attempted a slower paced combat system before with weighted animations, where you were penalized for attacking or making the wrong choice at specific times. It felt clunky and too cumbersome, so we fully revamped it with a fast flowing, very responsive controlling style that everyone has loved.
The Blacksmith!
We've updated the Blacksmith with a beautiful background and a fully animated NPC with his own dialog. Along with adding equipment stats on all of your gear to further emphasize their importance in empowering your character.
