Demo v2.0 Preview

I’m intending to bump the demo up to v2.0 in about three weeks, here’s a preview of what’s to come!

Menu

Let’s get started with probably my favourite and simplest addition yet - The Menu Screen.

I never planned to add a Save/Load system due to the game’s intended play duration being about 30 minutes. Now that’s no longer the case, and alongside the fact that we already have such a system in place, it’s a no brainer to use it.

Besides, an empty menu is no fun!

The Evergreen

Next up is The Evergreen, the first dungeon area that the player will encounter.

The Evergreen has been an experiment to see what I can do with with lighting in a 2D game.

This area is still a work in progress, and I’d like to add more than just a tonne of trees to the area. Assume for now that this area is open to change.

It also has its own battle scene:

Whilst on the topic of battle scenes, here’s another. Bringing a new tileset along with it. This one is intended to be used nearer to end game.

That’s it for this update, keep an eye out within the next few weeks for more updates!

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
