✨ I'm level 25 today! ✨
Happy Bday to me! As a gift for myself and for everyone else, here's 25 things about game development I learned by age 25:

25 TIPS ABOUT GAME DEVELOPMENT I LEARNED BY AGE 25

1. CHECK THE ERROR PAUSE BUTTON!
2. LODs are life savers!
3. Have a plan and stick to it.
4. You'll get tired sometimes, and that's ok. Just give yourself some time. ❤
5. Not everyone will like you game, and that's ok too.
6. Share your work! I still don't do this quite enough, but I'm working on that!
7. Save your project on git.
8. Take some time to build organizing tools and scripts. This may take a while at first, but will save you a lot of time later.
9. Ask for help when needed.
10. Small progress is still progress.
11. Use a project management tool or website, like Trello, Hack'n'Plan or Codecks.
12. Keep on searching and learning new tools and features. There's always a new program to help you develop your games!
13. Follow people that inspire you on social media. It'll help keep you focused and excited about your own projects!
14. Test, test, test. There's always something to improve on your game.
15. Start small and simple. Don't try making a MMO RPG as your first project. You'll find out making games is so much harder than it seems.
16. "Simple" mechanics are not as simple when you start building them. Just keep calm and don't give up.
17. Try recreating simple classic games as an exercise, such as Snake, Space Invaders, Breakout, Flappy Bird, etc.
18. Ask for other people to test your game. You may think your game is ready to not break under unexpected actions, but never doubt the player's capacity to break it!
19. A lot of good features come out of bugs! Just because something doesn't work the way you want it to, doesn't mean it doesn't work at all!
20. You don't need ultra realist graphics to make a good game. You could use squares to represent your character, just make sure your game is fun to play.
21. Not every device will run your game on the highest quality, so if applicable, give your player some options to lower the general game quality. This way everyone can have fun!
22. Learn about game design. This will dramatically improve the level of your projects!
23. Take good care of your projects interface. It could be what makes your game perfect or a complete mess.
24. No idea what to do next? Try sketching a character, a scene or a simple mechanic. Maybe you could find something nice there!
25. Teach someone what you've learned! Spread knowledge and help create a kinder game dev community!

Hope you've enjoyed my list! Have a great day and a piece of cake! 🎂✨

You might have heard yesterday, 09/12/2023, that Unity made some ~tiny little changes~ on their pricing plans...

I feel so dumb everytime I'm trying to open UVs and bake materials 😵‍💫 Why is it so complicated? Anyway, here's a little old radio model I'll be using in my horror game!

A piece of scenario from my game, inspired by the Eternal Ballroom, from the Backrooms. WIP

Madeline is the main protagonist of the mountain climbing platformer, Celeste. The game has been praised for its visuals, gameplay, and introspective narrative. The game's creator Maddy Thorson confirmed that Madeline is trans in 2020.

So I finally decided on a name for my horror game and created a cover for it! I'll be working hard on it this year so I can release the game by december! #GameDev #UnityDev #Horror #IndieGameDev

@ryon is a Jolter to Watch, game dev, programmer, and artist who worked on Five Nights at Friedrich's! Follow @ryon before the quest ends on July 15 and you'll get Coins!

A little late for valentines day, but here's a love potion for this month! #illustration #digitalart

✨ We have just been awarded the Best XR/VR Game at Gamescom Latam!

Happy Video Game Day!

July 8 is Video Game Day, a holiday that's obviously close to our hearts at Game Jolt.

Celebrate by completing our quests! They won't be around long, so get the rewards while you can.

Some beer and wine labels I'll be using on the bottles on my game so they don't look *too* generic. I'm loving the Drunken Sailor one!
