So yesterday apparently, Gamejolt has released the boosts, which are things you can buy on the Gamejolt shop that make your profile, games, or posts, more viewed for a limited amount of time, and the longest is one month for each of them. Now, I can see WHY Gamejolt thought this was a good idea, but in execution. I think it just shows that Gamejolt is aware that people who have less fame on here have a more difficult time being popularized, and they think they can release this, and think the problem is solved.
Why I don't like this idea:
Every day Gamejolt gets atleast 5 more users logged in. And naturally, nobody knows about those new people. Which is fine, so those new users start posting the stuff they worked on hard here. And it barley gets any attention. So they would think to just post more of their stuff, thinking that their things will get more attention since there's more of it. Nope, that's apparently not how it works. Now I understand that Gamejolt has some other things like realms and studios that presumingly fix these issues. However I can admit that whenever I look at a community. I just look at the user who posted their things in the studio. I rarely give it a like, hell I almost NEVER look at their account. Same things apply for realms. And I know for a fact I'm not the only person who does this. Plenty of people ignore other's content. Now I'm not blaming the people who do this. Because I'm one of them. I'm blaming Gamejolt because they almost never support these new users. I don't see new user content on my for you page. Hell, even when I search up "FNaF" in the search bar. Trying to find unique games made by new users. I only get the ones that are already popularized. And the search results almost never change. And plus, half of these games that pop up aren't even finished. I think that Gamejolt should filter out the games that don't already have a game published on them, and make it so they don't appear when I search up "FNaF" trying to find new stuff made by new people. It should be the newer content. If people want the old stuff, then they can figure out the filtering tool. Or just specifically search the game they want.

Some games that didn't have a game published on them that popped up whenever I searched "FNaF":
What am I really saying?:
All I'm saying is that Gamejolt shouldn't have put these items up. And should instead touch up a few things here and there with their algorithm. Not everybody knows about the filtering tool on Gamejolt. So new games rarely get any attraction from others. Because they simply can't see it. Posting your games on here and getting popular is just pure luck. I've been on Gamejolt for a whole year now, and I've only reached 276 followers. And I've had to promote and do CRAZY measures in order to get ONE follower on any of the games I've made. The fact Gamejolt probably knows about this, and their instead just trying to make people buy their way in order to gain the thing they wanted originally, Popularity. Is ridiculous. I'm not saying Gamejolt isn't allowed to make money. It's just that they shouldn't be doing things that make people BUY popularity, and plus. Half if not even more of Gamejolt's users are kids. Who don't have a credit card. And only like 30% probably actually have a parent's permission to use one.
If you want to. Spread around this hashtag to maybe get Gamejolt's attention on this
