You (and your ally) have access to basic attacks, which are free and simple, Strike moves and Support moves, which cost Strike/Support Points (SP) and is where most of the combat revolves around.
You also get a choice between a Strike move focused character or a Support move focused character. Support ones have a stronger basic attack, but are more focused on supporting moves overall. Strike ones have all-out offenses to punch whatever you face right where the sun don't shine (that being their faces due to the positioning of the light) but do less well when the other person breaks a rib or something.
Don't feel too stressed about the choice, though: it's not a complete lockout. Both roles get basic moves from the other's role. And besides, your ally gets the role you didn't pick, so you basically get to take both of them anyways! Everything's fine.
Some world mechanics have Strike and Support moves associated with them. Maybe perform the right actions to heal extra, or use a Joint Strike Attack. Maybe a Support move might lower a stress meter ripped straight out of Darkest Dungeon, who knows? The possibilities are limitless!*
*Disclaimer: possibilities are most likely, in fact, very limited, and should not be referred to as "limitless." Our legal team is, as of now, searching for the employee who made this outrageous claim and striking their name from all BloxCoâ„¢ records, as well as removing all other evidence of their existence. JUST TRY AND STOP ME, YOU UPTIGHT SUITS! YOU'LL NEVER FIGURE OUT WHERE I AM! ESPECIALLY GIVEN THAT I DON'T HAVE A CLUE EITHER! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
