I sat down with the team behind Souno's Curse!

Today I sat down with the team behind Souno's Curse!

Let's see what juicy secrets they could tell us!

So what's your game all about?

Souno's Curse is an action platformer featuring metroidvania elements and a surprising story about regret and living in the moment.

What inspired you to make this game?

The game is what I would call a celebration of what I love and what inspired me in video games and art in general. I love emotional stories, beautiful fantasy environments, action platformers, mystery and metroidvanias. My 2 main inspirations for it were Hollow Knight and Journey

What's the most challenging part of making your game?
The team is composed of people from France, Canada and the USA, and all of them except for me have full or part-time jobs on the side. The most challenging part was to plan a roadmap taking into account varying availability and finding a workflow that suits everyone's plannings/time zones.

What are your goals in the game industry?
I started Souno's Curse as an experimental project that was supposed to last 3 months. My goal was to get first-hand experience in every aspect of game development, from pre-production, HR, project management, development, marketing, testing etc... I never expected to get this much support online and for the project to become this big. Our primary goal, for now, is to finish the game with a high level of quality and to respond to our community expectations. We'll define more ambitious goals when the time comes

What game inspired you most growing up?
The first that come to mind are Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and Metal Gear Solid. The first 2 for their enchanting environments, soundtracks and atmosphere and the last one for its revolutionary mechanics

If you could give any advice to anybody that wants to make their own game, what would it be?
If I had one piece of advice to give it would be: Don't hide your game until it's "perfect". Let people test your prototypes and ideas as soon as possible and get feedback from them. You don't need art or animations for a mechanic to be fun. Fail early fail often

Where can people find you and your game?
