Icarus 1.4.0.0b and future


This is the changelog for 1.4.0.0b.

  • Feature: Moons now need to be colonised before they can be used.

  • Gameplay: Increased Earth’s population

  • Gameplay: Reduced deuterium and metal production from population

  • Gameplay: Increased deuterium and metal production from planets

  • Gameplay: Deuterium and metal production scales with planet size.

  • Gameplay: Fusion inhibitor deuterium requirement now scales exponentially - with orbital radius making them less effective in the later game.

  • Gameplay: Tweaked build time and costs for ships and buildings.

  • UI: Population now shows in billions.

  • UI: Build UI substantially improved.

  • UI: Added “flavour” text to moons.

  • UI: Improved appearance of ship travel distance ui.

  • UI: Added contextual mouse cursors.

  • UI: Solar collector status is now shown.

  • Bugfix: Ship population not fading correctly fixed.

  • Bugfix: Deuterium requirements for fusion inhibitor now calculates correctly.

  • Bugfix: Planet shadow now displays correctly.

  • Bugfix: Solar collectors now correctly calculate mining multiplier.

  • Bugfix: Can no longer purchase multiple solar collectors

This update has mainly focused on cleaning up the UI so I can start to add more to the game (new ships and buildings) as well as a number of bufixes and gameplay tweaks. Apologies for the 2 year wait but I have a little free time over Christmas so there will be a few more updates in the next month or so.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
