The name appears to be an clever pun on the last line of the chorus of Portugal’s national anthem, “A Portuguesa” (“The Portuguese”), which is: “Contra os canhões, marchar, marchar!”, which in English means “Against the cannons, march on, march on!”

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
