Because the game has gone through so many changes I decided it would be fun to go back and see different changes I made to this game during the original developement of it. Some of these ideas were really stupid. Enjoy!
“Annie” to be the “Master of Evil”:
Originally Aaron’s love interest was going to be a woman named Annie. She was scattered across the game at random and eventually wound up being the evil master. While this idea was good, the ending seemed really cliche and just plain dumb, and Princess Blade (might) be Aaron’s love interest, so the idea was taken out of the game. In one of the villages in the game, Annie’s character sprite (and her name) were used for a shopkeeper.
YOU LIED:
One day I came up with the most intriguing easter egg I could have added into the game, but while implementing it I decided on how stupid it really was. During the game, players would have run into a teenager who asks them for help with a side-quest. If the player promised to help but don’t follow through, the teenager would meet them later in the game looking very creepy and repeating the phrase: “you lied” over and over again. The game would then abruptly end. This idea was another one of those “that sounds so cool but really won’t work” ideas, and it was scrapped. The teenager can still be found in the game.
Hydro and Flame:
There were going to be two characters throughout the game that would give you helpful training. They were going to be sisters named Hydro and Flame, but after adding them I thought it seemed out of place for these characters to be in the game, so the idea was scrapped.
Monsters Built in “Factories”:
Originally the main point of the game would be to destroy 2 different factories that built the monsters and then to proceed to the final factory, or, a tower that the player would have to scale to finish the game and defeat the final boss. Unfortunately the factory idea worked well when the game was very linear, but when the world map was added the factory idea was scrapped. Later the world map was scrapped, but the factories remained out of the game.
