Now with where we have been, let's dive in! As many have likely seen/heard, yes, v2 did not initially drop in 2024 as promised back in January of last year. Unfortunately, many things transpired throughout that year to cause this goal to not be met, and I would like to personally apologize on everyone’s behalf as it was definitely posted too soon to fully confirm that release at the time. However, that does not mean you will have to wait another full year for updates! What this means is since funk kast’s trailer, we have taken a different approach to getting content out sooner for the coming future. Due to v2’s current size, to make up for a lack of current downloadable content, we chose to instead focus on releasing parts of the update as their standalone releases! This gives you, the player content to enjoy and us, feedback and time to work on everything more smoothly! Not much can be said on when each of these separate releases will be, BUT, we can confirm the first one will be the hollow knight content, so expect the first of these releases to include AT MINIMUM: all of the hollow knight content. This includes the full story mode week, free play bonuses, and nightmare bonus. There will also be some changes to v1 content included within this first release, but not every planned change as those will come later with the other planned releases, things previously teased that fall under this will likely be in this release as well(such as new boyfriend, freeplay portraits, ui/menu changes, etc).
With that being said, please look forward to the upcoming indie cross: Hollow Knight update! We don’t want to give any specific dates on this hollow knight update, but do note that it WILL be this year! On top of the Hollow Knight content, there’s a few surprises and special people involved with this update, so I hope you’re all excited! The current goal is to push for a “before silksong” release, though take it with a grain of salt considering that hollow knight silksong could drop at any moment after being confirmed for 2025 in the nintendo switch 2 direct!
On the topic of previously teased content, I also wanted to bring up a small point to help clear up any misunderstandings! As many of you have seen, within the funk kast trailer for indie cross, people were confused on how Technicolor Tussle was renamed in the freeplay menu. This is because Blvkarot, the original composer of the song, wished to rename their new version of the original song to that, as the song is now currently an entirely different take on the song! While the original version will still be in the mod, note that any FUTURE(and likely previously teased “v2s”) newer versions will take the same role and have different names to their original, to steer away from the idea that the newer version is an objective better version, as everything is viewed differently by all fans! Think of any songs like this in the future to be songs that take inspiration, and not try to one up the previous version but simply be a more modern rendition of the song, hence the name change!
Speaking on a personal note here, I understand how people may be upset with the lack of downloadable content, but I also feel like people should understand that at the end of the day, we are all still regular people trying to have fun making something we are proud of and we love. We want to please the fans while also pleasing ourselves, so please keep in mind how many of us modders not only on this team, but in the community itself are not constantly working on fnf projects compared to back then in 2022-2023, where some of the community's greatest mods would come out every week. In my own case, I have many responsibilities like my family, my work, my other projects, and other personal matters that take priority over Friday night funkin’ modding, especially last year when I had lost very important people in my life and have since then been putting family first as I always have. Please understand that this is just how things are in the current days of fnf modding, and respect our wishes on preferring to work in semi silence. We will definitely work on this in the future but for now, give us more of your amazing patience so that we can deliver a great update for a great mod!
