Some of you may already seen this, but most of you haven't, so I'm going to get into details right now.
Introducing, Gandi IDE!
Gandi IDE is a brand new Scratch mod just released a few months ago. It has a very cool new design layout, advanced could backpack, in-browser real-time collaboration mode, advanced extensions, and so much more!
With the advanced extensions this powerful editor has to offer, you can create actual online multiplayer games using the same traditional Scratch blocks! This includes MMO, MOBA, PvP, and PvE.
"Scratch is designed for educational purposes and has over 100 million users worldwide. But it also has tons of design flaws. Gandi is intended to solve these problems. Gandi extensions give you access to many features Scratch does not have, including unlimited clones, cloud variables and databases, JSON data structures, regular expressions, lazy loading, video and audio playback, multi-player game engines, and more."
- Gandi IDE.
What do you get with Gandi IDE?
Let's have a look then.
The design of this is wonderful. Although, since it is realitivly new, most addons we know from Scratch Addons and TurboWarp are missing, but according to the team on Discord, they will be eventually be inplemented to Gandi IDE.
Here's an example on what the layout looks like on one developed project.
But let's have a look on what wonderful features Gandi IDE has...
1) Built-in collaboration system.
You read that right! You don't need a browser extension to do real-time collaboration anymore! It's already built in here!
You can invite up to 5 people to work on one project. While in collaboration mode, you can also chat my using Ctrl + M and a textbox will appear right at the bottom of your cursor.
One thing I have to mention though is that only one person can work on a sprite at a time, which stinks for now, but it's still cool to use.
2) Advanced Cloud Backpack.
"Advanced", hm...? Well, remember how in Scratch, there is a little tab at the very bottom of the editor where you drag and drop assets?
Well, in Gandi IDE, you get to have MORE. Instead, your cloud backpack in now in fullscreen!
But there's more. Not only have your backpack in fullscreen but you also get to create folders, tags, and more.
And if you want to use your assets to your project, just open the little button at the side of the stage in your project editor and a little window will pop up.
But WAIT, there's more. Remember how I made a post about videos with Scratch? Well, guess what? Playing MP4s on Scratch is now possible! You can upload videos to the media section in your cloud packback.
It requires an extension to play, though. But I'll make a tutorial about it later.
3) Restore Points
Restore Points is already a thing in TurboWarp, but there are slightly more features in Gandi IDE.
You can now manually create a restore point by command. They will be saved on your local storage. Cloud restore points are automatic and will be uploaded to your restore point history.
4) Assets Marketplace
While you can get free assets in the "choose a sprite" section, those assets are for kids. But in this case, it has been renamed to "Assets Marketplace" and they're HECK a lot better than Scratch's assets, and of course, they're free to use.
They're still somewhat silly, but it's worth it. You can choose from sprites, to backgrounds, and even sound effects!
This feature hasn't been inplemented yet, but later in the future, anyone can upload their own assets to the marketplace if they wanted to!
5) Powerful Extensions.
The normal Scratch Extensions like Pen and Video Sensing is one thing, but now, there are several more to chose from.
You get to make multiplayer games, cloud data access, media players, and more. If you want to see a demo of what some extensions look like, then take a look at my project screen below that I made for testing purposes.
Pretty cool, right? You'll be able to figure those out sooner. Tutorials on how to use the extensions are available on YouTube IF you are willing to use them.
6) Sprite Modules
What is this, you may be asking? A module is a sprite, except it can't be displayed on the stage at all. I don't think this will be used much, but it may be useful for complex coding like processors, data variables, text encryptors and uploaders, etc.
It's optional, though.
6) More custom block features.
There are a little more added to this, but you can make custom reporters now.
It should work as you expect. You can still add more code at the bottom of the define block, but in the end of the script, it requires an extra block at the end.
You can go from there, depending on your perspectives.
But, there you have it! If you have projects that are ready, you can also publish them on the main Cocrea website!
And create your own customizable profile page!
But that is all I have to show you. Happy Scratching, everyone, ig...
Also, yes, I have light mode on because it's daytime. My life, my choice. Don't worry, dark mode is enabled by default so that your eyes doesn't get burned in the surrounding dark.

I can guarantee you this: You don't have to worry about the Scratch Team's crappy moderation anymore!
Soon, Gandi IDE and Cocrea will overtake Scratch and push it to a whole new level. If Scratch can't be a good place to stay, then Gandi/Cocrea will be your NEW home.
Oh, and also, remixing is now optional in Cocrea as well. You now have the option to protect your project from others to look inside as well, so that's a good feature to begin with.
But overall, I totally praise the look of the editor, its new features and layouts, and nearly everything. This will be the new Scratch for game developers for sure!
But it is missing several things because the whole thing has just been released a few months ago. The dev team is accepting bug reports and suggestions in their Discord server. They are still working on things.
But either way, it is best to leave Scratch and move on to Gandi/Cocrea. With Scratch and their crappy moderation, Cocrea has A LOT more freedom to begin with.
Well, if you are planning to transit to Gandi IDE and Cocrea anytime soon, then consider it your NEW Scratch home then!
Have fun...
