I had the idea to recreate paper boy the game
then I saw BlackSheepZA’s Arcade Veheicle Physics Framework.
With encouragement from the UWC Game Dev club (especially Ubaid (UEE)) I decided to take the challenge.
Instead of making a replica of paper boy, which I imagine would be very difficult, I’d rather make an inspired game.
chose to have this done in Unity because 1) the framework is in Unity, 2) I am able to learn and show off my skills in Unity engine.
Godot would be nice, but its not as well recognised and I’d probably be required to port the framework over (Which may be a nice future idea - but not now), or not base my game off the framework.
The framework looks so fun and I really want to make a game that has mad vehicle manuevers like the framework, so I shall continue in Unity.
Another hurdle is that I use Linux, which is troublesome because Unity is not supported on Linux. atleast thats the stigma.
Linux does have Unity game engine, but its an experimental thing, I’ve known from passed research done on the unity forums.
I went ahead and downloaded the framework and tested it on a Windows PC at university. Worked nicely.
moved over to unity for linux, not so nice.
In meantime created a mockup for the PapaerBoi (working name) game. Got assets from OpenGameArt.org
saved it.
