#IslamFact #5

The Virgin Mary / Maryam bint Imran was mentioned more times in the Qur'an than in the New Testament. There's also a whole Surah/Chapter called Maryam all about her life and the birth of Isa/Jesus, which differs quite a lot from Christianity

Here's a condensed version of the story of Maryam (alayha as-salam):

Birth
In Islam, Maryam (Mary) is the daughter of Imran and Hannah (Saint Anne), who were elderly and childless. After praying for a child, Hannah vowed to dedicate her child to God. Maryam was born, and her parents placed her under the care of Prophet Zakariya (Zechariah). Some Islamic scholars note a confusion in the Quran between Maryam and Miriam, sister of Moses, though others believe this is symbolic.

Early Years
The Quran does not state that Maryam grew up in a temple but places her under the care of Zakariya. Miraculous provisions, such as fruits out of season, were given to her, leading Zakariya to ask "From whence is this?" She said, "It is from Allah. Indeed, Allah provides for whom He wills without account" [3:37].

Annunciation
The angel Gabriel (Jibril) appeared to Maryam to announce the virgin birth of Jesus. Though Maryam was surprised by the message, Gabriel assured her that for God, all things are possible. She was chosen above all women for this honor: "O Mary, indeed Allāh has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds" (3:42).

According to the Quran, the following conversation transpired between the angel Gabriel and Mary when he appeared to her in the form of a man:

19:16 And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Mary when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east,
19:17 screening herself off from them. Then We sent to her Our angel, ˹Gabriel,˺ appearing before her as a man, perfectly formed.
19:18 She appealed, “I truly seek refuge in the Most Compassionate from you! ˹So leave me alone˺ if you are God-fearing.”
19:19 He responded, “I am only a messenger from your Lord, ˹sent˺ to bless you with a pure son.”
19:20 She wondered, “How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me, nor am I unchaste?”
19:21 He replied, “So will it be! Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me. And so will We make him a sign for humanity and a mercy from Us.’ It is a matter ˹already˺ decreed.”

— Surah Maryam 19:16-21

Virgin Birth
The Quran describes Mary's conception of Jesus as a miracle. Quran 3:47 also supports the virginity of Mary, revealing that "no man has touched [her]". 66:12 states that Jesus was born when the spirit of God breathed upon Mary, whose body was chaste.[44] Gabriel told her that it was God's will and she would conceive without a man. When the time came for Maryam to give birth, she was instructed to shake a palm tree for dates and drink from a stream. Upon returning to her people with baby Jesus, they questioned her, and Jesus spoke from the cradle, declaring his prophet-hood.

This virgin birth is a central element of Islamic tradition, emphasizing Mary's purity and submission to God's will.

#IslamFact #16

Read this 3 times:

"Say, “He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”

If you did so...

This really is cute. Not at all like the last cake I made for the halloween fireside.

#IslamFact #20

For the last fact to celebrate Ramadan, a misconception about Islam is that it is intolerant towards other religions, when in fact, Islam teaches to respect people of other faiths, and never force Islam on others

Eid Mubarak :)

#IslamFact #14

Everyone knows that Muslims pray 5 times a day, right?

WRONG! There are actually 4 seperate types of prayer:

-Fard (Obligatory prayer)

-Wajib (Required prayer)

-Sunnah (Recommended prayer)

-Nafl (Voluntary prayer)

My son got a 3d printer for Christmas and made me a planter :)

Allah in Islam has 99 names (excluding Allah, which is Arabic for God)

You'd better learn them, as according to the Hadith: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will enter Paradise.” (AL-BUKHARI 54:23)
