if your a young individual living in a western country (or really anywhere where the following activities are normalized) don't start drinking, don't start gambling, don't start sleeping around, don't smoke and don't even think about doing any kind of drug unless prescribed by a doctor.

this might sound like a boring life to some but i PROMISE YOU the fact that you haven't tried any of these things yet for whatever reason is actually a good thing!

all of the activities above are not only harmful but also extremely prone to addiction, you might think you can control yourself but the fact is that you'll always be 1 bad day away from a life long addiction.

people like to think they have self control, but self control can easily be broken while simply completely abstaining yourself is 100% affective, or in simpler terms. "if brain know alcohol feel good, brain want alcohol when sad. if brain never tried alcohol, brain forced to process emotions like a healthy brain should" basically this but swap the alcohol with any harmful addiction.

i know this might be hard for some especially socially with things like sports betting or group drinking, but just know that you are the one making the right decision here, don't let anyone belittle you for being responsible and actually choosing long term health and happiness over quick dopamine shots that barely last an hour 🥔👍

as for those who already have an addiction, it's gonna be a lot harder for you to stop but still completely possible. just remember that relapse is normal when recovering, all you gotta do is keep trying and you'll get there 🥔
