Items, AI, and Space-worthy Vans


As I said when I created the games page, I wasn't gonna do very often updates on the game's progress, finally I think I've done enough for an update. There is a video above showing everything in-game.

Map

I completed a rough draft of what the map would look like, with roads, a river, multiple locations to visit, and spooky forests, It's just a sketch in my notebook but by the next update I'll have a more finalized version made in photoshop or something.

The Ghost

Obviously there will be multiple ghosts with different abilities and stats, not sure on what ghosts there will be, but I want to add 30-40 types. Currently I've completed the ghost's AI, and it will attack you, showing a "You Died" screen. This will change, but while I work on an animation it's just that. There may or may not be a health system, haven't decided yet.

Movement

The player's movement script is pretty much done, and is currently the most complex and longest script in the game. You can walk, sprint, crouch, jump, and interact with items. I will also be adding movement to the camera as you move, just haven't gotten to it yet.

Vehicles

You will be able to purchase and drive around different vehicles to locations, I have made a basic model for a van, and as shown in the video, it is scuffed, I need to basically recreate the entire vehicle movement, but it kind of works.

Items

EMF Reader - Has 5 lights showing how high the EMF reading is, pretty simple, I assign a tag to an object and if you get close to that object, it sets the EMF reader off.

Camera - You will be able to take pictures of paranormal evidence, take video of paranormal actions, and find different types of evidence with it, currently is only a camera.

Spirit Box - Has 5 lights at the top which don't do anything yet, will most likely show how strong the response was, and depending how strong it was, will help you determine if it was the ghost saying it, or interference. Also has a screen allowing you to cycle through frequencies. (Currently has no functionality in-game)

There will be more items, and you can suggest new ideas if you want to see something added.

That's about it for now, gonna keep working on it when I have time, and hopefully I can double to triple the amount of items and content.

Next up

Day 2 of Bullet Hell Game Jam

The textures are a bit funky still, gotta fix that repitition but it looks 10x better than unity, the sky also isn't dynamic while the fog is, which makes the lighting a bit off sometimes.

Just finished the 2nd Doctor's TARDIS from Doctor Who in blender. Might use it in a game.

This is the only scratch game I've ever made, it's related to a song from one of my favorite bands, saw a post of someone making a scratch game on gamejolt and it reminded me of this

Daylight Cycle, Campground Map, & More

Looks like I’ll be able to hit my goal of a minimum of a rtx 2060, if not lower, also sneak peek at one of the locations

Theme was just revealed for the Bullet Hell Game Jam #5, I already know what I'm doing today. I'll be posting updates on progress over the next 10 days!
