Izu Paradiso (in development)

Another area in the works to feature in our Kickstarter campaign vid.
Obviously I want to showcase as much of the full-game’s colour, variety and vibrancy as possible, so including Izu Paradiso in it was a no brainer.

I have to say that it’s my favourite of all the parallax-mapping assets I’ve created so far.

I’ve included the images here and links to them on our official site, www.eriasline.com.

About Izu Paradiso
In the prime years of Verdamm’s growth and development, the Exclave Kings embarked on a project to provide a place of escape and relaxation for the population. Izu Paradiso was designed to be a vacationing spot within the city, constituting an artificial stretch of beach, ocean, clubs and hotels.
It was intended to have a domed roof, allowing the artificial beach to be covered by artificial blue sky. It would also have allowed temperature to be regulated, simulating a lasting tropical summer. The roof, however, is one of many elements that remain incomplete. Construction was interrupted by the onset of the city’s depression.
The original idea was to permit every citizen a week of vacationing here for free once a year, but this ideal was never realised. Izu Paradiso was complete enough to open when building stopped, but central funding and the offer of “free holidays” were withdrawn. To the consternation of the anticipating population that would have been its visitors, Izu Paradiso is now almost exclusively privately owned. It is the reserved haunt and playground of the city’s rich, who will (on occasion) loan portions of it out to the public (in a cynical attempt to nurture good will, despite the fact that they charge for the privilege of visiting). Izu Paradiso is also frequently used as a venue for conferences and other events held by government officials.

To cater to its wealthy owners, Izu Paradiso recently had a small port installed which links Izu Paradiso (via an underwater tunnel and a vehicle called a “Fin” - a kind of jet-powered submarine) to Thyden on the coast.
