It’s officially been a year since Jenni Styles was released, in June, 2014. As my 1st Flash game, she was originally inspired by the desire to learn vector art & animation, I decided to make her a slightly interactive, so I could also learn a bit of code, and have fun playing dressup with an original character concept.
Her successor, Alter Kat was released in October 2014… similar theme, but with a bit more alternative flair. Jenni & Kat are loosely based off my little sister & myself, and I have lofty dreams of evolving them into animated 3D characters, with unique voices, personality traits, and starring them in games & animated episodes.
In the meantime, Jenni Styles (chapter 2) is in the works, with walk-cycles, lip-sync animations and storyline, as well as including some collaborative efforts with friends.
Alice the Wonder Cat (also in both Jenni Styles & Alter Kat) is the most likely to be starring in her own game next (before more fashion games). The last few months I’ve been focused on learning how to make a game in Unity and creating an endless runner-style game with Alice as the main character (a 2D cat dodging enemies & obstacles in a 3D world).
More on that soon! I sure enjoy GameJolt for all the creative, unique games, artists and developers to check out. Sometimes I participate in Game Jams and inspired by the last jam I contributed to (LudumDare #32), I made a new YouTube channel, JenniNexusPlaysGames, dedicated to my Let’s Play videos and other game-related content / opinions.
If you happen to share interests with me (3d, animation, learning game dev, girl games, physics, PS4, indie games etc) feel free to stay in touch! I love to connect with the community and share the journey with similarly inspired peeps.
Cheers from our small (but badass!) studio in Northern CA,
Jenni
