June Devlog [2026]


Holy moly, it's that time again, ladies and gentlemen! It is time once again for the Matt Warkoski devlog, possibly the ONLY thing nobody in existence has ever asked for! Let's get started!


Goofy Silly Encounters

My progress on GSE was not as much as I was hoping it'd be, honestly. Despite that, I still did get stuff done that I can showcase! For starters, I've finished all the extra renders for each character that'll be in the demo (yes, the demo), as well as getting some stuff for the office done. As a matter of fact, it's the video on the top of this post! (I would've put it underneath this section of text, but Gamejolt doesn't have an option for that lol)

I do need to redesign the character's Custom Night icons, though, since the game's aspect ratio has undergone a shift since I started developing. Thankfully, they'll be much clearer if I ever decide to showcase them in any future devlogs, so definitely be on the lookout for them!

Not much else on GSE aside from that, I hope the small snippet of what I showed for the office is good. With that being said, let's move on to...


Headspace Night Android Port

I actually have good news when it comes to this one, thankfully! All of the shader mess has thankfully been resolved (thanks in no small part to RainbowHype and NaitorStudios helping out with the remaining shaders that were broken). Now all that really remains is fixing issues with the game's save files on Android (moreso making a system where it works on Windows and Android simultaneously) and finally, testing!

I still can't give a definite release date for this yet, since testing to ensure everything works as intended for Android will probably take some time still, but we're definitely getting closer! Just know that none of this would've been possible if it weren't for @RainbowHype 's help, so please go give him some kudos when this devlog goes live, he deserves all the thanks for making this possible.


Plants vs. Zombies 2 Ultimatum

I wanted to save what's actually probably the biggest one of all for last. As some of you may or may not know, I'm working on a PvZ 2 mod! Well... I was last year, but I've recently gotten back to work on it the past month or so! There are currently 7 worlds in the mod, with the next one in the works being Far Future. As for that, the world itself is pretty much done. All the new levels are made, all the plants and zombies in that world have been properly reworked, and there's even a whole new custom grid item! I know it doesn't sound like much, but given how PvZ 2 modding is (as well as it being the first fully original thing for the mod) it's certainly exciting cause it paves the way for me to add even more entirely new stuff to the mod.

But even more important than all that, PvZ 2 Ultimatum is gonna be revamped! Well, sorta. You see, another PvZ 2 mod creator, @Emi_Lives_Alone , has helped me a TON throughout developing Ultimatum. But recently, she's helped bring to my attention a lot of the pacing issues with the mod, as well as... let's just say, lack of modernization with the mod. Mostly when it comes to the game's quest levels feeling rather pointless when it comes to rewards. Thus, I'll be redesigning not only a lot of the game's adventure levels, but also rewarding the players many new plants for beating the mod's Delta and Omega levels. Some that are unlocked later in the adventure, others not! That way, players feel more incentive to actually play those quest levels!

With that being said, this update probably won't be out for some time still. I'm in the process of redesigning many of the levels, as well as ensuring the new plants are all balanced too, and I'll also need to have some testing done before I can release the update. Either that, or I can have a public beta-testing build out to gain more community feedback! It'd be my first time doing this, but if that's something you PvZ players would like, please let me know!


As stated before, please give a bunch of kudos to both RainbowHype and Emi_Lives_Alone, as they've both helped me a lot with Headspace Night and PvZ 2 Ultimatum respectively! I really hope you guys enjoyed this most recent devlog, even if there wasn't THAT much shown off visually, and I'll see y'all in the next one!
