Let the Generation Begin!

This is my second attempt at making an infinite 2D block based game. I have just completed the basic height map generation. Here’s a list of what’s to come in future updates:

  • Infinite Cave Systems [almost complete]

  • Rock Layer Generation [started]

  • Ore Generation (scattered at first, veining later)

  • Vertex Buffer Dynamic Lighting

  • Block Hardness + Pricing Tables

  • Back Layer

  • Background Scenery

Please forgive how basic the game currently is. We got further with version 1 of the engine, but I chose to re-make it, for speed optimization (using different generation techniques).

Here's a peaceful little forest scene for this #screenshotsaturday, from the beginning of the game.

Strange Umbrella

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.

We're knee deep in multiple large features and "game feel". Quick peek behind the scenes in this weeks Dev Blog: https://bit.ly/2QmmaQM

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
