Hey what's Up I'm here with a progress update pretty cool stuff going on behind the scenes. Yesterday I figured out that I was actually really bad at making tilesets but I corrected that mistake thankfully.
Anyways onto some real news
Garden Progress
The Garden (formerly Greengarden) (also a working title most likely) is nearly complete. I recently remade ALL of it, completely changing the way it looks. The Garden is an outdoor zone, so having the scene barriers be green walls didn't really help to sell that. Now it actually looks like it's outside.
This is a pretty big area, it's over twice the size of the previous one, Fractured House (which will be redone in the future too but just the looks and name). It will eventually serve as a sort of "crossroads" between future areas.
The boss of the Garden is a lot more interesting than the previous one too. They have a lot more personality and they're not a one-off tutorial boss like The Monochrome Mouse was.
That's about it for the Garden. Giving it a completion percentage I'd put it at around 90%.
What's going on with the House?
I remade it too. If you played the demo when it was still up, the House used to be 4 color-coded rooms for each of the 4 main cats and a giant shopping mall sized "living room".
The House is actually a house now. I redid all the rooms, added new ones, and fixed the structure of it so that it actually makes sense. I like it a lot. I'd like to have some gameplay of the intro scene up on the page, but that's waiting on something else that I'm working on.
This "something else" is something I'll show soon too, hopefully. It will affect the entire game going forward, in a good way (if I decide to go through with it, likely).
Other cool things I did
The save points now have a feature where you can have conversations with your party members. The dialogue you'll get will be different depending on where you are or who is with you. Lots of banter between Red and Blue. Siblings behavior.
I'm taking a different approach to how you meet Green. She may be able to actually join your party as a non-combatant follower and follow you around the Garden up until a certain point. (I know someone will be happy to hear this)
Added an "element" system for the combat, based on the color of the character/enemy. For example, Red's type is RED, Lesser Yarns are BLUE, Cucumbers are GREEN, etc.
Planned out the 3rd area after the Garden. It's gonna be a cool area, and includes a neat main enemy concept that I've been wanting to do something with for a while.
