Hello again,
March Development
This month has consisted of further fixing and polishing the DEMO.
We've specifically been taking a closer look at the 'interaction-menu' of the game. Since the i-menu is the tool you'll be using to interact with your surroundings, it's important that it feels nice to use at all times. We've been making tiny adjustments to it's speed, animation and sound, and we aren't done just yet. Hopefully by next month, we'll have a cool i-menu that isn't just passable, but JUST RIGHT!~ (fmi: take a look at the Code Corner further down the article)
Tiny adjustments upon tiny adjustments have also been made to all the sounds of the game, so that they can co-exist in harmony. Those are pretty much done, and we'll test them on some players soon!
Balancing out the storytelling
Like most of this fixing progress, it's all about balancing. This month I've been taking a closer and more critical look at our dialogue manuscript, to see where misconceptions might arise. I'll try to comb those out, and hopefully we'll have a story that's easier to understand at first glance. That's the goal, at least.
Planning out the next level
Like last month, I've had the time to plan out the next level of the game (which you'll only see a glimpse of in the DEMO). This level will be quite bigger that the previous one. Atm, I'm able to count ~18 different screens, some of which will be larger panoramas.
So far, I've been mostly secretive about this level and what it will contain. However, I think I'll begin to be more open about it and show it around. Anything story related will still be hush-hush, though. ;-)
Expect more in the upcoming devlogs.
The Code Corner
It’s about code. It’s the coder segment of the devlog. REVOLUTIONARY!!!
I asked the game’s programmer (@RocketBoyweee ) what inputs he had for the devlog. Here’s what we got, quote:
“This month I worked on implementing new sounds that Alex has made. Upon testing the game with one of our test players, some of the feedback our test player gave us was that they didn't like the sound so we've been trying to optimize that as much as possible. We've also been updating the spin wheel animation for Lorry's interaction menu so it's more snappy and we're still working on that to make sure it feels perfect 👌 See you guys next month! ”
That's all for this month. Thanks for staying around!
We'll see you in a month once again! :-)
