Long time no see. I've been busy, so I don't really have an expected release date for the full version...

No new story content here, but there are a good few changes here. You can see the patch notes of Version 1.0.6 of the demo below.


General Stuff

  • Added invisible walls that block monsters on maps.

    • This is to help prevent monsters from following you into certain areas.

    • The invisible walls will not block the player.

  • Monsters will no longer respawn whenever you leave and re-enter a map.

    • They will now only respawn once you leave and re-enter dungeons.

  • You now start with 2 additional red potions and 1 mana flask.

  • Added more interactable stuff on certain maps, namely indoor maps.

Sprite Stuff

  • Radovan now has a shoulder guard.

Audio Stuff

  • The volume on many of the songs has been changed so that all the music is about the same volume.

Dialogue/Cutscene Stuff

  • Slight change to one of Radovan's lines in the first cutscene.

  • Some changes to the Plant Enjoyer's dialogue.

  • Some changes to the Shoveler's dialogue.

  • Some changes to the cutscene where you meet Ulthur and learn the location of Oldtown.

  • Some changes to the boss cutscene in Oldtown.

  • Added a line for Ulthur in the graveyard cutscene for the sake of clarity.

  • The text box at the end of the demo no longer states I intend to finish this by late 2023.

Party Stuff

  • All party members now start with 5 more MP.

Skills and States Stuff

  • All melee skills now have slightly improved action sequences.

    • "Action sequence" basically refers to the motions a character does when using a skill.

    • When the user attacks, their weapon will now line up with their target more.

  • Many skills have been given reworked action sequences, so keep an eye out for some cool new moves!

  • Radovan:

  • Flash Slash

    • Power: 75% -> 85%

  • Break

    • Act Spd: 0 -> +5

  • Mira:

  • Gash

    • 75% -> 90% chance to inflict Bleed.

  • Low Blow

    • Power: 50% -> 75%

    • Act Spd: 0 -> +5

  • Hide

    • Now grants +10% critical hit rate.

    • Act Spd: 0 -> +5

  • Ulthur:

  • Aero

    • Act Spd: +1 -> +2

  • Shell

    • Act Spd: 0 -> +2

  • Book Skills:

  • Dragonleap

    • Power: 125% -> 150%

  • Shatter

    • Act Spd: 0 -> +5

  • Bewitching Blade

    • 75% -> 90% change to inflict Charm.

  • Tire Fire

    • 75% -> 90% chance to inflict Sleep.

  • Rock Golem Skills

    • A couple of the Rock Golem's skills have been renamed and given a slightly new action sequence, but they function the same.

  • HP recovery magic can now target downed allies.

    • It will still only heal living allies, but it will still work if the ally is revived before the spell goes off.

Item Stuff

  • HP recovery items can now target downed allies.

    • They will still only heal living allies, but they will work if the ally is revived before the item is used.

  • This also resolves an issue with AOE healing (like the Red Mist Potion) being disabled if one ally was downed.

  • Vigor Carrots now buff MHP and MMP instead of Def and Agi.

  • The Cleric book now teaches Replenishment (regen skill) instead of Esuna.

  • You can now carry twice as many Fountain Waters.

Equipment Stuff

  • Weapons and armor that give effects such as +1% Eva or +1% Crit now give twice the effect.

  • Anti-ailment accessories like the Antipoison Pants now grant 75% resistance to their respective ailment instead of 50%.

    • Their cost has NOT been increased.

Enemy Stuff

  • All enemies that previously did not have attack animations now have them.

  • Enemies in The First Steppes can no longer crit.

  • Cover Crab

    • Now weak to Bleed.

  • Killer Slime

    • Mnd: 6 -> 4

  • Skeleton

    • Atk: 22 -> 21

    • Mnd: 8 -> 6

  • Big Bat

    • Atk: 27 -> 25

    • Can no longer inflict Blind with attacks.

    • Now knows Blinding Bite.

    • Will use Duo Attack more often.

  • Castghast

    • Atk: 18 -> 20

    • M. Atk: 27 -> 26

  • Rock Golem

    • Atk: 35 -> 34

When you forge into the tundra, it pushes back...

The demo for The Cold Trail is now available!

It features about an hour of content, including a couple of dungeons and an introduction to the story and characters.

Feel free to take a gander if interested.

I experimented with battle start animations in RPG Maker VX Ace and made a good few of them. I may make more if there's any demand. I could make a tutorial for how to make these, too...

kyletower 1.0.6 patch notes

Some of the changes here were based on a review on the rpgmaker.net page.

The game is a bit more difficult now, but the XP and Sil pool is larger to compensate.

The full version of the Cursed Sword of KYLE is now released!

Now, our somewhat experienced adventurers can complete their quest to deal with a certain troublesome treasure.

The main story is about 4-5 hours long, with some optional stuff here and there.

100+ downloads! (including other sites) Plus, a release window for the postgame.

I'll eventually make this animation and another one available for download.

These are recolors of RPG Maker MZ assets to make a Black Dragon and Nightmare. Pretty basic stuff, but some may find it useful. Be sure to read the terms of use in the article, though.

The sequel to The Tower of KYLE now has it's own game page (linked below)! It'll be rather longer than its predecessor, so I'll need a while to work on it. I plan to release a demo next month, though.
