Alright let's talk a bit about our game and the progress we (I) have made onto it. It doesn't feel like a whole lot to me, but there has been a lot of work even for a bit of recent down time I took and will have to take again soon.
So let's talk about that first. I have recently slowed down the project do to low funds and need to use what I have to stay a float myself and there was a lot a time when a Break occurred and I had to shift my mind to a better place. But shortly after the Break there was a tragic loss in my family and it hit me hard. I am still dealing with it. Not fully knowing how to handle some of whats going on especially with what little information I've been given. I will have to be taking another break soon to go down and attend the funeral and service.
One of the first things I did after hearing the news of that, I started to make a map in my game to honor her. So for those who do play the game will find a place to pay respects and to meet her and get some wisdom. It was a way to help me deal with what was going on. I couldn't believe it happened. I didn't want to cry like I have been but it happens to all of us.
Anyways, let's alter the subject a tad bit. There are those maps/levels you can visit with some secrets to find with her, but we have finally been making a few extra maps that connect the story up better. Not that it didn't already. How I made the original flow chart to make this game has been changing. I haven't made them to the chart itself, but how the story plays out. You can even see a little for yourself now since I added a little play test of the new look and story locations and all.
Make sure to check the wiki for the game as well since I am writing a lot of extra lore for the game to make it really story rich.
Let's first talk about a few of the maps that have been reworked. There is still time to make changes so these are not final. But going alongside with a change to how the story opens up, it's not with starting in your basement. You still "have one" but it's a secret. You still start with in your house, but it's a cut scene now taking you to the academy where the story begins. You can visit your house later on.



Then lastly I did the homes area of the town. I still need to make places like upstairs in the players home, and all the other homes as well. I want them all to feel like a home well lived in kinda.ย
I have also added in a new version of a map I made in the game Kitty Lost Gem. The Library. Don't worry all things will make sense. Many books will be added into the game that you can read. Kinda like Skyrim. Also will be adding in cards the player can collect during the game play. Some will come with items for the player, or potions. Some will only be there for the art. (this will take me a long while to make all the art for the cards too. I am doing it.)ย
Currently breaking down how I manage making this game. Map making on paper or digital paper, then the game engine or tiled, NPC creation per map, eventing/scripting, battles, cards, music/sound. Will be adding in credits all throughout the processes.ย
I will be trying to get this more worked on before the time I have to take off again. It wont be a long time, but it will be sad. We have to keep moving forward.ย
