Hi everyone! Summer in Madrid is as punishing as always and we are doing our best to fight it and stay alive (fortunately, it’s almost over). We’re in the middle of a production-heavy stage, but hopefully, we’ll be able to take the game to one or two small events in the upcoming months. By the way, remember we said we’d probably announce something cool in September? Well, stay tuned. Time for today’s update!
We wanted to take a look at one of the first buildings we added to the game, Lucas’ bookshop. It’s an old and dusty place, hidden in plain sight and lonely (just how Lucas likes it). We should use this opportunity to point out that Lucas’ family name is Weston, which is also the name of the street where his establishment is located, coincidence? There aren’t many of those around here.
You can tell this isn’t a very organized place. Volumes are piled everywhere and it’s hard to track where a specific book might be. Things tend to get lost in here. Old Lucas will spend a whole week complaining about a book that was stolen only to discover that it was on his desk the whole time. These things aren’t great for his reputation, people already believe him to be quite a looney but that’s also part of his personal charm.
He doesn’t have many visitors and most of them don’t stay long, so nobody is sure about how big the bookshop actually is. There is one door, locked most of the time, that leads to a series of smaller rooms filled with all kinds of things. There’s a rumor going around about how the bookshop is actually a maze in which you can get lost forever. Surely that must be an exaggeration, but if one got trapped in there they’d have to rely on Lucas to find the way out, so it might be better to play it safe and avoid exploring around.
If you pay attention you’ll see plenty of scratchings around the shop. Most of them look pretty similar, but what are those? We might need to add them to the long list of mysteries that seem to plague this city.
And that’s all for today! Remember to join our Discord to hang out with the development team or just drop us a comment here. We’ll be back soon with exciting news. Have a great weekend!
