Sweet fancy molasses, Fallers, it feels like I blinked and suddenly it was March! How is everyone? Excited about the new Gravity Falls graphic novel “Lost Legends” coming out this summer?

Since the assets to create the entire rest of the game are now 100% complete, I don’t have a lot of interesting things to report on at the moment. Everything in terms of development is coming along nicely and right now I’m in the process of laying out every remaining map in the game, so I guess I’ll give a little insight into that! For dungeon maps, I use RPG Maker’s “Generate Dungeon” feature to create a map with a random layout, until I find one I like and want to use as a base. Then I’ll screenshot it and bring it into Photoshop:

Next I’ll make the layout by dividing up where the environment and pathways are, using the randomly generated base as a guide but also deviating from it wherever I want to or need to. It ends up looking something like this:

This is the “step” I’m currently trying to get to for every map in the game that I still need to build, before I move onto the process of placing in the assets and making it into a finished map, just like this!:

One more thing: Tomorrow (Sunday, March 4th), awesome streamer Briggsycakes from @skilloncooldown will be doing a special live stream of the PinesQuest 2D Extended Demo at 12 Noon Pacific Coast US Time / 3 PM East Coast US Time over on Twitch.tv/Briggsycakes! I hope you’ll be able to join her as she plays the game for the first time, fresh off of finishing the Gravity Falls TV series!
