Marea engine - New lighting model: Oren-Nayar

Hey guys!

As you know we're working on our game engine and we're quite excited to share some progress we made recently.

In particular we wanted to talk about the new lighting model we decided to use: Oren-Nayar. We won't get into the technical details but this new lighting model is more accurate than the Lambert model, which is still quite common despite it's relative inaccuracy (for example UE5 uses it by default) and it's what we've been using up until now.

We're now testing the new diffuse model and so far everything looks quite good.

We're also planning to make a small test game to see how the engine behaves in the real world so if you have any suggestion we'd love to hear it!

That's all for now, see you in the next one!
