Mechanics

I've been thinking about the mechanics I want to introduce in the game and I need your thoughts, if anyone saw this page can atleast give their opinions on them.

Flashlight: It was already shown in one of the videos on the game's development page. Press R to turn it on/off. (Scrapped)

Leaning: I've been thinking about adding the leaning function to the player since all I need to do is toggle it on the player's blueprint. (Scrapped, with the new additions on the player bp, the leaning code was unfortunatelly broken)

The Neighbor being able to sneak behind the player: I'm trying to make the neighbor sneak behind the player if the neighbor sees the player but the player does not see him.

Make the neighbor check the basement door: If he sees that one of the locks in the basement are removed he goes onto hunt mode.

What if whenever you interact with a door, lock or boards your shadow does an animation? Not him holding items because I'm lazy. (Scrapped as of 11/4/2025)

Readding holstering (Done)

Thinking of making the neighbor able to vault through objects so he becomes more of a threat. If I scrap this idea, I'll use the animations of him vaulting on cutscenes (Scrapped, a pain in the ass to code)

Scrapped the default flashlight mechanic, it's an actual item now. Don't worry, there is a flashlight beside the player's bed if you need it (I doubt you'll need it in the release, but it's there for the occassion)

That's all for now, I'll edit this post if I think about more mechanics

Was testing an animation for a cutscene and it looks like they're taking a pic

Made some variables that can help me customize the paintings, models, and borders of the pictures using construction scripts :)

Random fact: I was going to use the old project file for the whole development phase, the current and new project file was supposed to be a Prototype Reimagined fangame that I transformed into the new HNSW version, the folder even has the old name!

Since only 3 people voted yes and there wasn't any votes on no. Here's a pic of David's living room, hope y'all enjoy it :)

Custom city background decor :)

Might need to do some foliage optimization (Too much grass on the map)

Or I might do the way I did on the old map (Only put grass where the game takes place and remove it from the mountains that are far away from the gameplay area)

Just felt like adding this pointless detail...

Just testing smth, it might be turned into a fangame once I finish HNSW (I'm trying to code an entire fangame from scratch.)

Also, I moved the inventory to the middle of the screen for better item visibility, let me know if I should change it back

What u looking at David?

(Brought the chest movement back, except it only moves the neck)
