Welcome to a new devlog. Coming out the day before Undertale's anniversary, now ain't that a treat
Bit of a smaller one length-wise, but with some pretty major news!
THE APPLICATIONS
As of now, all the currently submitted applications have been pored through and analyzed. We now have our current team!
THE TEAM
New Artists
Cozy
Daymations
SnowyBoi64
New Writers
IndieMedley
JJDude
Terra
New Music Artists
Fennec
And of course, [[The classics you've come to expect]]
GuyWhoLikesGames - Music Artist
ThomasThePencil - Music Artist
Verstamech - IDK, some random dude
If you didn't get invited to be part of the team, don't worry! As the project grows, there's a chance we might want to bring on some more people. As of right now, however, the positions we're really still in the market for are additional programmers and music artists, and the application form will be updated accordingly to reflect that.
Having a bigger team on board has already helped MASSIVELY. Heck, the Haven storyline has already seen some massive improvements!
Speaking of which...
THE REVISIONS
Thanks to writers from the new team, Haven is being revised and reformatted.
This might sound a bit scary at first. But tbh... Haven was in desperate need of a rework. Not only did it directly contradict the "Versotale does not conform to the character roles and story beats of Undertale" mantra by... essentially being just the Ruins but beige and green... but the story and characters were also far too convoluted to make anything work. One set of cutscenes the characters could make sense in, but in later cutscenes they simply wouldn't, and unfortunately this was a problem for every single Haven Angel character. Not to mention, the way the story was formatted would have meant Haven would have been SUPER unnecessarily bloated and long, or sub-areas would just have to be incredibly short with not much fleshing out. However, now with the new plan, it's gonna be much more manageable story-wise
Also, I should note... it won't require much effort to write in the new story beats. There wasn't a whole lot of story implemented into the game that you haven't already seen in the first WIP Showcase video. Unfortunately, however, this does mean that it's going to be outdated quite dramatically. I don't wanna set anything in stone yet, but since it IS such a dramatic shift in how Haven is formatted, a new "First 16 Minutes" video might be in order someday. "Might" being the key word there
THE CONCLUSION
Thank y'all so much for being patient with me while I got through the current applications! Again, if you didn't get chosen, don't worry, as there's a likely chance the team might need to expand after we pick up more traction!
I'll see y'all in the next devlog!
