Mini Devlog


hey so it’s been a minute

as you guys may know we’re taking green sans in a different approach by cutting back on the comedy a bit to focus more on telling a unique story unlike anything the utdr community has seen before!

recently we’ve been solidifying more plans and i’m just here to tell you guys what you can expect from us moving forward.


The Characters

before this green sans was a pretty shallow character that really only made references to memes and whatever we thought was funny. over the course of a couple months we began working on a new personality and overall character for him that offers more depth than just “gr you killed my happy meal now im mad”

these new sprites were made with the intention of showing more personality into them since the old ones were made when the game had little to no direction with its writing.

we understand a lot of you liked green sans for the memes and references but it’s just gotten exhausting to write and we want to do more with this game than just telling jokes. (you aren’t gonna hear green sans make ohio jokes i’m sorry if that upsets you)


The Shopping List Arc

so i've been getting questions about the shopping list arc and with the cancellation of nihilism happening people have been asking me if there's gonna be another game to replace it

on the topic of nihilism we are replacing all of wrenblu's stuff, which means a lot of the backgrounds and overworld assets are gonna have to be remade now. sucks but what else are we gonna do :(

as of now i don't really have any plans to replace nihilism in the shopping list arc since there arent really any fangames i've seen that have made me go "yeah THAT needs a green guy" maybe in the future but for now i'm fine with just the 4 we already got

i think the shopping list arc entirely is gonna get a little simplified in terms of it's story due to how rocky video game development is. i'm actually shocked at how long it's maintained 5 games thus far, i expected this to happen a while back.

you can just expect it to be more goofy and green sans to just be playing around with the different mechanics & characters of each game respectively


Engine Switch

as you may know already, THE EVIL d is switching from clickteam fusion to godot for it's development. we did it on THE EVIL d first as a sort of test drive to see if we liked developing in godot more, and after some time developing an engine we decided that it's just gonna be easier for us to develop green sans in godot moving forward. this mean game development won't be as infuriating moving forward and HOPEFULLY things will speed up.

Conclusion

we arent ready to show much story stuff right now but we will have more to offer than just a fight against a funny skeleton in the future

our plans are a bit ambitious so your patience is appreciated but we guarantee that the wait will be worth it. while you wait i suggest you follow the game page for THE EVIL d, as that should be releasing later this year if everything goes right!

just finished recording a video going over updates on where we are and where we’re taking development moving forward

afterwards we’ll probably be going silent and resuming development in the shadows for the time being
