Most likely my final GameJolt Devlog

Hello everyone,

I'll just get straight into it. Since I still get the occasional comment every now and then asking about Fredbear and Friends 3.0, I've decided to make this devlog to just settle things once and for all.

If you can't be bothered to read the whole article, then I'll put it shortly like this: I am officially cancelling Fredbear and Friends 3.0. Meaning the game will never exist.

There is a plethora of reasons for this outcome, but here are the main ones:

First of all, my schedule nowadays is extremely busy. School (and soon work at the same time), YT content, and my personal hobbies take up the entirety of my time. There is absolutely no way I could fit game development into this schedule, especially with how it's a significantly more time consuming, more stressful and way less rewarding process than my current main form of content.

Second of all, I'm no longer interested in FNaF whatsoever, and I've lost all motivation to make more content for the community. I've said this before, but there is practically no desire for my games, with the exception of the occasional comment once a month or so. I've never felt recognised in the FNaF space, and although I've never made games to be popular, I'd be dumb to not take the offer of being able to work on something that is not only easier and way more fun to create, but also gives me much more recognition in return.

Third of all, believe it or not, I'm really not that good at game development. Fredbear and Friends 3.0 was meant to be sort of my 'redemption arc' type of game, but while testing it, it honestly felt like a mess. While a million times better and more balanced than Reboot, it was still very clunky and had a lot of similar issues. Really the game is just a running simulator with little mechanics, all of which can be rather confusing. Also the plot made absolutely no sense. So to be honest if it makes you feel any better, you didn't lose out on much at all, except for being very disappointed on launch.

So what now?

I might very well return to game development at some point in the future, but it definitely will not involve FNaF. Because my current form of content is now located on YouTube, I don't really have much reason to stay on this website. So, I guess you can treat this as sort of a goodbye for now.

As for Fredbear and Friends 3.0, I will not be posting what's left of the game since it's unfinished and not in a fully playable state, and would likely be decompiled for assets by many. I will also not be posting the project files publicly, because for one it's my work, and two because it would result in dozens of crappy copies of the game. I don't have any close trusted developer friends who could take over either.

However, if any of you are interested, I will very likely be posting a playthrough of the game at some point along with a few other cancelled projects of mine, or perhaps even do it live. I'm not sure when that'll happen but I'll definitely do it at some point.

I won't be removing this game page since I often like to look back on my old work, but I'll be delisting it since it's not a game that's ever going to be released.

Anyway, that's about it. If any of you are interested in Dead By Daylight, I heavily recommend checking out my YouTube channel, which is very DBD-focused and will likely continue to remain active for a long time.

To the few people who stuck around for this long, thanks for being here, and I'm sorry to dissapoint you with these news, even though it's probably what you all expected.

It'll be a while before I return to GameJolt (if I do), but I hope to see some of you again when it happens.

Thanks!
