Moving forward (GIF at the bottom!)

Note: There’s a new animated screenshot in this article but you have to read all the way to the bottom to see it. Sorry, not sorry.

Wow, it’s already been 3 weeks since the demo. I hope you all liked it! If you have any feedback to share (good or bad), I’d of course love to hear it. It’s still early in development, but now’s as good a time to any to make sure the product I’m making is one people enjoy.

Anyway, what I’m really here to share are my development plans for the next few months. You can expect to see some of these (not necessarily in any logical order) soon:

  • More weapons! I’m currently working on the revamped Fusion Lance for Nightmare. It’s coming along quite nicely, actually. Even if a lot of the animations are shamelessly copied from Ignition.

  • The shop! Yes, what’s the point of all these weapons if there’s nowhere cool to go and buy them? Unlike in Ignition, this shop is an in-game location you can walk around in, and will have lots of personality, some eccentric shopkeepers, and - most importantly - lots of brand new items to turn you into the most ridiculously overpowered killing machine you can be!

  • The next level! Yeah, so the first two levels were a city at night and a town in the day. Big whoop. It’s the next chapter where things REALLY get interesting. Suffice to say it will be like nothing you’ve seen yet from Carnage in Space.

  • Playable Tuhrahkkkii! Yeah, I know. The game page promised three playable heroes, but the demo only gave you two. Playable ‘Rahk is coming… eventually. He’s just going to be a pain to animate which is why I’ve put it off for so long.

So anyway, that’s my plan for the near future. It’s a lot of work for (mostly) one guy, so I’d better stop slacking off and get that all done.

And that’s that. As a reward for reading this wall of text (or scrolling right to the bottom), here is a screenshot of the new and improved Fusion Lance - fittingly used against its original owner, Zarres.

Until next time, HUZZAH!

Rejoice! The jankiest puzzle in the game has been re-done.

It's still a little fiddly, but now the boulder's less likely to do screwy things like get stuck on a platform, or teleport you to the side on touch.

Egad, what's with all the enemies popping out of the walls lately? Can't you all just sit out in the open like proper gentlemen?

Aaaaand, we're back! Development on phase 3 (the final phase!) has begun, with Kodon's last weapon: The Beam Flail!

This is a clumsy but powerful weapon. It has a very long reach and hits hard, but it's not fast. Use it on enemies too close for your gun!

Operative Delta, elite assassin.

She'll play some sort of part in Kodon's upcoming story content.

The only question is just how much stabbing this part will involve!

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I last posted, but I've still been hard at work with the first chapter of Kodon's story.

And to show for it, we have this stylish fellow - he may be slippery, but he's no match for Kodon's homing shot!

Sweet victory.

Kodon's prologue level is DONE! That's milestone 1 of 4 for completing Phase 3 and reaching Crucible's final release.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming months!

Hmm, what was that someone said about backstabbing?

There's something off about this room.

Almost as if we've entered a new dimension - a THIRD dimension.

Anyway, Construct 3 has had 3D features for a while and I decided to play with them a little. What do you think? Cool effect? Too jarring?

Avast! Space pirates!

And what's a captain without his crew? These scoundrels will be among the first to make life difficult for you in Phase 3.

And here's the shop animation for last week's new flail weapon.

Its jump attack hits a wide area, making it perfect for swatting flying enemies!
